I've seen this movie twice. Since 23rd December, second time was yesterday.

I really enjoyed it. I haven't read the books so I wasn't sure what to expect. The Dragon, Sapphira was so cute when she first hatched. So cute, in fact, that I now what a dragon. It's on my wishlist.

I think the storyline was good. Perhaps a little rushed toward the end. Given that i haven't read the books, I'm not sure how much time they spent travelling in the book. It seems like most of the movie was Eragon's journey to the Varden. Yes, he learnt important lessons along the way but it seemed to take up too much of the movie. Then he got to the Vardon and had a day to prepare for a huge battle. And they even said "yesterday, you were a simple farm boy" This all happened in one day? That can't be right. Not when they said it's be 5 days ride. And the dragon hatched, he tried to teach her to fly. She took off and came back fully grown while he was still standing there. Wtf? I know they kept saying she was a young dragon and all but I don't see how she grew that big that fast when all she'd had to eat was a rat.

Some of the characters were really good. Well written and characters you could really feel for.

Other than that, I really liked it. Fantasy is my thing so I guess it's no surprise.

I just watched it tonight.  I gathered that since the dragon possesses magical powers, it grew to adulthood in a matter of hours.  As for being a farmboy yesterday, I imagine it's a figure of speech.  (When I watched it, it only took about 2 hours for the entire journey. Undecided)
I was really hoping for more dragons, though. (Like they had in  Reign of Fire.)  The trailer was kind of misleading.  It was an okay movie although I couldn't help but notice some of the similarities to Star Wars. I'd rank it #3 in my dragon movies, behind "Reign of Fire" and "Dragonslayer", but ahead of the one with Sean Connery's voice as the talking dragon.

Star Wars? I didn't notice. I noticed the similarities with Lord of the rings. That figures though because many fantasy writers are Rings fans.

Somebody who read the book cleared this up for me on another forum. It takes Sapphira about 2 weeks to grow that big in the book. And the journey was also a lot longer.
