(no spoilers in my review, can't vouch that will hold for anyone replying after me)

I *think* it was a good film overall, but the screen I watched it on was plagued with problems. The AC broke, the volume was too low, the movie started 20 minutes late, etc.  Complaints to the management finally got us some AC about halfway in, but the volume was never fixed and so I spent a good part of the movie straining to hear it, rather than just enjoying it.

Random thoughts - I thought the acting of the kids has really shown growth over the years, and this was no exception.  However, Daniel still can't pull off a realistic crying scene (in my opinion). Special effects were very good, but action seemed sparse.  I completely understand why this film earned a PG rating rather than a PG-13.

My biggest complaint is probably a minor one in the grand scheme of the film, but I was annoyed at how wands seemed to be reduced to fancy flashlights and Hermione seemed to cast most of her spells by half covering her mouth and muttering them (whilst using no wand at all).

I'm planning to see it again on another screen with actual volume and AC and without having to run to the bathroom 5 times (it was so hot we all drank extra cause we were sweating).  Hard to judge what all I missed, lol!

I haven't seen it yet, I hope to soon though. I was wondering why this one wasn't rated PG-13 though.

Okay.  So I saw HP6 last night.  It seemed to me like this was mostly a film to set the stage for the upcoming Finales, since there was no real battle against Voldermort (can I say that name?)persay, like the last ones.  What we did get was more background on Voldemort and the love stories of the main characters.  I thought it was just as good as the others so I'm not complaining.

My favorite moment in the film is one that they added in and wasn't in the book.  It's the moment when Slughorn softly describes the flower petal in the bowl of water that turns into a fish.  I thought that was done beautifully and fit so well within the realm of HP.  Broadbents performance was fantastic, and I thought that Malfoy's acting was very well done too.  All of the young actors have shown growth, but Draco was highlighted more in this film and he got to show off his skill as an actor.

LOL Exisle. I deleted it just now Smiley

Ok I saw it on Saturday and I personally thought it was one of the most exciting movies yet, it's really shown how the characters have grown too. The ending was still sad even though I knew it was going to happen.

I hated it... ok, hate is a strong word.. but I was seriously disappointed!

After Sirius' death in OOTP, Harry became very angry and dark - he did not come across that way in this movie!  That's what struck me in the book, and it was disappointing to me that they didn't show that... they also left out the attack on Hogwarts by Bella and Greyback and the others, well, they attacked but no students involved.. there were students in the book... the bit in the caves was chopped to nothingness.. and the WORST part... no funeral for Dumbledore!!

At the end of this book Harry is angry, he's going after Voldemort and nothing can stop him... at the end of this movie it's all calm and reflective.

I said when I read the book there was no way they could do this well and get a PG-13 rating.. well, they went for the PG, and totally ruined it (IMHO).

I agree that the actors have grown up.. I loved Draco in this one.. Broadbent was very good as Slughorn..

But the movie in total... just disappointing.. Sad

It wasn't my favorite film in the series, but to be fair it wasn't my favorite book in the series either.  A lot of it is just filler to get us to the real meat of the story (the final films).   I liked it a lot better the second time I watched it, because I was able to focus more on the individual performances than the overall story.  I am still looking forward to seeing it on Imax in 3D when it comes out in a couple weeks. The Imax was delayed because Transformers had a lock on the majority of the screens.
