'Real World' Cast Member Did Show While on Probation
Mon, Sep 23, 2002 02:41 PM PDT

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - One of the seven people on MTV's "Real World: Las Vegas" was on probation for criminal mischief while he taped the series.

Frank Roessler, 22, of Lewisburg, Pa., pleaded guilty last year to criminal mischief after breaking into two fraternity houses at Bucknell University and damaging bathrooms inside them. Roessler's record was discovered by the document sleuths at thesmokinggun.com.

According to arrest reports and court documents posted on the site, Roessler and another man, Charles Reiter, broke into the two houses in March 2001 and proceeded to break windows and toilets in each place and smash a door in one. Upon entering one house, police also found "two fresh piles of feces."

Roessler was sentenced to two years of probation in June 2001, fined $1,000 and ordered to split $1,000 in restitution to the university with his co-defendant.

An MTV spokeswoman tells the Smoking Gun that the channel was aware of Roessler's arrest but did not consider it a serious crime.

"It was a frat prank. He is not a dangerous person," the spokeswoman says.

'Real World' Cast's Boss Canned
Wed, Oct 16, 2002 06:31 PM PDT

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Hitting on an employee is not the brightest move a supervisor can make. Especially when the acts are caught on camera.

Such was the lesson learned by one Marc Portugal last week, when he was dismissed from his job at the company that owns the Las Vegas nightclub featured in the current season of "The Real World" on MTV.

Portugal was fired after executives at N9NE Group, which owns the Rain nightclub at the Palms hotel, saw the Oct. 8 episode of "The Real World," the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. The episode shows the party planner making repeated passes at two of the show's cast members, Arissa and Irulan.

When Arissa resisted his advances, Portugal at one point said "Is that any way to talk to your boss?" He also got into bed with Irulan despite her protestations.

"We have zero tolerance for such behavior," N9NE co-owner Michael Morton tells the paper. "Obviously, we were unaware of the things that were going on" when the series was taped earlier in the year.
