VH1 Invades, Redecorates Homes with 'Rock the House'
Fri, Oct 11, 2002 11:40 AM PDT

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - If you crossed TLC's "While You Were Out" with MTV's "Cribs" and threw in a little "Candid Camera," you might get something close to a VH1 series premiering in late October.

It's called "Rock the House," and it lets musicians loose inside the homes of regular folks to redecorate a room in the artist's "own signature style," whatever that means.

Each week, a friend or significant other will make some excuse to get the person out of the house, whereupon his or her favorite musical artist will descend with one of the show's designers -- Hollywood production-design veterans Kelly Van Patter and Paul Roome -- to redo a room.

A hidden camera, meanwhile, follows the unsuspecting music fans they go about whatever they've been sent away to do.

Former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar is featured in the premiere episode, scheduled for 10 p.m. ET Monday, Oct. 28. Other artists taking part include Snoop Dogg, Paula Abdul, Tommy Lee, Ice-T and "Weird" Al Yankovic.

Lisa Snowdon, of the BBC's "Top of the Pops" show, is the host of "Rock the House."
