Penn & Teller Out to Expose Cons for Showtime
Thu, Nov 7, 2002 01:17 PM PDT

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Comic magicians Penn & Teller have in the past explained how to scam unsuspecting dupes. In their latest project, they'll expose scams perpetrated by other people.

The duo will host a series on Showtime beginning early next year, in which they will "leave no stone unturned in their quest to destroy everything the trusting public believes in," the network says. Using their own knowledge of con games, the pair will expose people who run them.

Showtime has ordered 13 episodes of the half-hour series. Each show will feature interviews and hidden-camera segments on such topics as TV psychics, alien abductions and other enterprises designed to make a buck on the easily convinced. Comedy bits will break up the investigative parts of the show.

Penn & Teller will also turn their focus toward the viewers, pointing out that they may be just as gullible as those who pay to have their fortunes told over the phone.

The untitled show is in production, with a premiere date scheduled for January.
