E! Continues Celebrity Obsession Mon, May 5, 2003 06:44 PM PDT LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - The E! network will stick to its format of all-celebrities, all-the-time with a batch of new series that will bring celebrities into viewers' living rooms. The network's development slate for the coming year includes a show about how the very famous spend their money ("It's Good to Be" ), one in which regular folks are hypnotized into believing they're celebrities ("Star Struck" ) and one that re-enacts notorious Hollywood moments ("Infamous" ). "We [are] dedicated to creating programming that speaks to the brand and appeals to our viewers' desire for bold content and compelling stories, taking them deeper inside the world of entertainment and closer to their favorite stars," says Mindy Herman, president and CEO of E! Networks. To that end, "It's Good to Be" will examine how the other 0.5 percent lives by dissecting the spending habits of such A-listers as Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt and erstwhile Material Girl Madonna. The half-hour series, coming in June, will detail just what a seven-figure salary can buy, from swank houses to fleets of cars and the staff to maintain them. On the flip side of that coin, the network will look at the fleeting nature of reality-show celebrity with "Your 15 Minutes Are Up." The show will feature interviews with former reality contestants to see how their lives did or didn't change after their time in front of a national audience. Other series on E!'s docket include "Facing Fame," in which people are made over to look like their favorite stars; "Hometown Premiere," in which stars return from whence they came to re-connect with family and friends; and, in a bit of meta-celebrity programming, an untitled reality show that follows writers and editors at a "major entertainment magazine" as they track down the week's best Hollywood news. E! has also renewed "The Michael Essany Show," "Star Dates" and "Nearly Famous: Vegas Showgirls."
