Do you remember the movie and the tv show that spun from it?  It's baaaaaaaack!  I'm personally excited to see this...

Premieres 8/7pm Wednesday, May 28th
Award-winning actress and choreographer Debbie Allen starred in film version of "Fame" and directed the television series spin-off. Now she returns to recruit multi-talented performers (ages 16 and up) from across the country. After a tough audition phase that viewers will witness during the FAME premiere - players will enroll in an intense "boot camp" at Debbie's Los Angeles dance academy.  
 
Each week, they will complete new routines with the hope of staying in the competition. Winners will receive an "instant resume" -- recording and management contracts, agent representation and a year at the Debbie Allen Dance Academy, among other opportunities and prizes.  
 
The competition begins at 8/7pm Wednesday, May 28th on NBC with special host Joey Fatone (*Nsync)!

I'm hoping this is good.  Years ago, my kids were in high school when "Fame" the TV show was on.  One of their teachers was a Fame addict.   She taught lit and theatre, so as a surprise, the students worked up a "Fame" number, and surprised her with it, when she entered the classroom.  It went well, from what the kids said....and the teacher burst into tears, she was so excited.

I watched the premiere last night and really enjoyed the amazing talent.  I checked the Fame website for an update this morning but nothing has been added.  How odd.....

Most show webpages are not updated promptly, like CBS does.  Most are done at some point during the next business day.  CBS clearly does theirs in advance and then pushes them at a specific time, like midnight.

'Fame' Winner to Star in ... 'Fame'

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - The perks of achieving "Fame" keep piling up.
 
The prize package for the winner of the NBC talent-search series has added two new components. In addition to management contracts, a stint at judge Debbie Allen's dance studio and a suite at L.A.'s W Hotel, the winner will also get a guaranteed role in a musical opening in New York this fall.
 
In a nice bit of synergy, said musical is "Fame," which, like the current series, is based on the 1980 movie about students at New York's High School for the Performing Arts. The musical is scheduled to open in October at Manhattan's Little Schubert Theatre.
 
The stage show premiered in London in 1995 and has since enjoyed a successful run both in the West End and on tour in England and other parts of Europe.
 
Also added to the package is a $100,000 modeling and endorsement contract with Wilhelmina Artist Management, a division of the modeling agency that creates image campaigns for its clients.
 
"Fame" has been performing reasonably well in the ratings for NBC. Through its first three weeks, the show is averaging about 9.3 million viewers on Wednesday nights.

I started the FAME thread long ago and then life got in the way and I wasn't able to keep updating.  The other night when FAME was in Finale - I wasn't able to see it.  I was far away and the satellite didn't pick it up.   Cry

Duh on me - I went to the site and am so so happy Harlemm won!  He was the best of the best.

In our opinion, Shannon should have won hands down for she definitely is a triple threat.  We hope we see her again and a lot on tv and Broadway shows.  
 
Wouldn't it be wonderful to see musical movies again like in the 50's - 60's.  Great entertainment!  Cool Cool Cool
 
Harlemn lied about his age.  Any other show would have booted him.  Although he is very talented, a lie is a lie is a lie!

ok I am confused I didnt watch this Amercian Idol wannabe but was does be in your thirties instead of twenties matter? not like someone lied about being an adult or vice versa. As I said I didnt watch show but how does this change his talent?
