Former 'Real World'-er May Run for Congress
Mon, Jun 16, 2003 01:50 PM PDT

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - A number of actors have made the transition from Hollywood to Washington, from Ronald Reagan to Ben Jones, who played Cooter on "The Dukes of Hazzard" and served two terms in Congress.

In what may be a first, however, a former reality TV star is considering a run for the House of Representatives next year.

Sean Duffy, 31, is the district attorney in Ashland County, Wis., a small county that borders Lake Superior in the northwest part of the state. He was also a cast member of "The Real World: Boston" in 1997.

Duffy is married to Rachel Campos, another former "Real World" star (from the San Francisco edition). She mentioned her husband's possible campaign in an interview with the Wausau Daily Herald last week. Duffy says he hasn't made up his mind yet.

The incumbent in Duffy's district is Rep. Dave Obey, a Democrat who's held the office for more than 30 years. Duffy would run as a Republican.

Duffy also competes in lumberjack events and will take part in the Great Outdoor Games, which ABC and ESPN will televise in July
