Hogan to Make Daytime Butling Cameo
Thu, Jun 19, 2003 11:12 AM PDT

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - How you gonna keep Paul Hogan down on the farm after he's seen Paree? Hogan, who went from humble working domestic employee to international superstar thanks to "Joe Millionaire," will make his legitimate soap opera acting debut on "One Life to Live" with a two-day part beginning Thursday (June 19).

Hogan will, shockingly, play a butler. Can the long anticipated rebirth of "Mr. Belvedere" be far behind?

Hogan's character, Wesley, replaces longtime Buchanan family butler Nigel (Peter Bartlett) after Asa Buchanan (Phil Carey) discovers that Nigel is in love with his ex-wife. Hilarious hijinks ensue as Wesley, unlike Nigel, calls Asa on his drinking problem, facilitating Nigel's return to the family fold and Paul Hogan's return to relative unemployment.

Hogan acknowledges that this new role didn't require a great amount of stretching on his part, but believes he possesses a large degree of untapped acting potential.

"If they want a butler, I'm quite happy to do it, but I could try my hand at anything," he tells the New York Post. "I'm a relative newcomer to acting. Up until six months ago I was quite happy estate managing and butlering."

For now, he's preparing for the second installment of "Joe Millionaire" and enjoying the ride.

"What I'm doing now is a great way to earn a living," Hogan says. "However, one has to be realistic, and whether I can parlay this into a long term career, I'm not sure at this stage."
