Evan Marriott Captures Oscar
(Wednesday, July 16 03:18 PM)

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - OK. The "Joe Millionaire" thespian probably won't win an Academy Award any time soon, but he will expand his acting resume, appearing as neurotic Oscar in a Brampton, Ontario production of Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple." Marriott will take the stage in August as Brampton's Heritage Theatre.

Beyond the hunky pseudo-construction worker, the cast will include members of Brampton's local theater troupe Birdcage Productions.

"He'll be playing Oscar, which is perfect because he's really known as being this alpha male type," says Birdcage founder Brian Bird. "Oscar is one of Hollywood's most famous bachelors, and now so is Evan."

The Brampton Guardian reports that Bird will also play Felix in the production.

Marriott, whose acting experience includes a mini-stint on "Days of Our Lives," a KFC commercial and lying to a group of single women for several weeks, will step into the part played by Jack Klugman on television and Walter Matthau in two feature films. No word on whether there will be room in the production for uber-butler Paul Hogan.

Tickets for the Marriott "Odd Couple" run $23 dollars (Canadian, presumably) and are available at the Heritage Theatre box office.
