'CSI' Tops Parents' Group List of Nastiest TV
(Thursday, August 21 03:46 PM)

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - An average of nearly 26 million people a week watched "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" last season, and probably at least a few of them were children or teenagers.

The Parents Television Council has a problem with that.

The PTC, a media watchdog group headed by conservative activist L. Brent Bozell III, has ranked "CSI" as the least family-friendly show on network TV for the 2002-03 season. The show was No. 7 on the worst list last season ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer" was No. 1).

The PTC ranks series based on the amounts of sex, violence and rough language depicted onscreen. NBC's highly rated comedies "Friends" and "Will & Grace" also made the worst list.
Another CBS series, the departed "Touched by an Angel," topped the council's list of most family-friendly shows. The WB's "7th Heaven" and three ABC sitcoms were also judged among the most acceptable shows for parents to watch with their kids.

Here are the council's best and worst shows for 2002-03:

BEST WORST
"Touched by an Angel" (CBS) "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (CBS)
"Doc" (Pax) "Kingpin" (NBC)
"Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye" (Pax) "Fastlane" (FOX)
"7th Heaven" (The WB) "NYPD Blue" (ABC)
"Life with Bonnie" (ABC) "Fear Factor" (NBC)
"Smallville"> (The WB) "Angel" (The WB)
"Reba" (The WB) "Girlfriends" (UPN)
"Star Search" (CBS) "Will & Grace" (NBC)
"George Lopez" (ABC) "Friends" (NBC)
"8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter" (ABC) "Big Brother 3" (CBS)

Isn't it curious that after being on the list for several years, last year Number One, that "Buffy . . ." in its last year would have been complete omitted (or is that exonerated?)

I watch CSI and some of the other shows for the most part most on this list are on after 9PM therfore children (young ones) should be in bed! Therefore they shouldnt even see these shows! But as a Parent it is my job (and every other parent) to make that shows that arent for young eyes unavailable for them to watch!

My big "fear no evil" husband won't even watch CSI.  And you can bet he isn't going to miss "Smallville", but I like it also.  Great storyline and good looking cast members.
