'Restaurant' Producers Think about New Gamble
(Tuesday, September 09 10:05 AM)

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Having cooked up a minor hit this summer with "The Restaurant," producers Mark Burnett and Ben Silverman are contemplating a trip to Vegas.

"Survivor" guru Burnett and Silverman, who heads the production company Reveille, are considering transplanting "The Restaurant's" format to the world of slot machines and craps tables in a project called "The Casino," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

As with the earlier show -- which chronicled the creation and opening of Rocco's, a Manhattan restaurant owned by celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito -- "The Casino" would offer a documentary-style look at the inner workings of a gambling joint. Burnett has reportedly been scouting locations in Las Vegas.

Should the project make it to the air, chances are it would chronicle the goings-on at an existing casino, as new ones don't open as frequently as restaurants. Burnett and Silverman would again work with Magna Global Entertainment, which was responsible for the heavy product placement in "The Restaurant."

"The Restaurant" earned respectable ratings for NBC this summer, averaging just under 8 million viewers per episode and growing from week to week. The show also performed well among the ad-friendly demographic of adults 18-49.

I just heard about the Casino-idea.  I'm totally up for this one!
