'Queer Eye' Sets Out to Conquer the World
(Tuesday, September 09 08:16 AM)

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Slobby straight guys around the globe, fear not. The Fab Five are on their way.

NBC Enterprises, the syndication arm of NBC, is in the midst of making numerous deals to export Bravo's hit "Queer Eye to the Straight Guy" to foreign markets. Australia's Network Ten is the first to get the show, with episodes scheduled to begin airing next month, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Network Ten will also produce an Aussie version of the makeover series, which it will air locally and then hand over to NBC Enterprises to sell to other countries. The arrangement is a departure from the norm and means that NBC Enterprises will be selling two versions of the show internationally.

"Queer Eye," in which five gay men act on the behest of friends or loved ones to school a straight man in the ways of fashion, interior design, grooming and cuisine, has become Bravo's biggest-ever show this summer, averaging close to 3 million viewers a week. A couple of airings on parent NBC have also done well.

So far, NBC has sold the American "Queer Eye" in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Finland, Iceland and New Zealand. Viewers in the U.K. and Sweden will also get localized versions of the show.
