Well....I was kind of disappointed to tell the honest truth.  First of all, I was led to believe they would spend $100,000 per room - not $50,000.  I really don't think they needed two hours to show it either.  Maybe I'm just a poophead this morning....... Sad

I just looked at their quotes and the rooms...explain to me exactly how Laurie's pink and green room has a "real masculine feel"?  Those wicker baskets sure screamed manly to me too....  Roll Eyes

TLC Feels 'Grand' About 'Trading Spaces' Special
(Wednesday, October 08 09:52 AM)

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - For the special "Trading Spaces $100 Grand," the popular TLC show gave its featured homeowners an unprecedented amount of money for their remodeling efforts and the result was an unprecedented audience. Over its two-hour running time on Sunday night (Oct. 5), the special's premiere averaged nearly 9.1 million viewers, TLC's largest audience ever.

On the special, two pairs of homeowners were given $50,000 each to remodel one room of their neighbors' house. Designers Doug Wilson and Laurie Smith went all out in transforming two Plymouth, Mass. rooms and the ratings showed the true results.

The two-hour "Trading Spaces" was TLC's highest rated primetime telecast overall and in nearly ever conceivable demographic. TLC even tied ABC and CBS for the primetime lead among women 25-54 for the evening, an impressive achievement. The numbers were up 59 percent over the record audience for "Trading Spaces Vegas."

"These incredible numbers reflect the ongoing strength of TLC and the 'Trading Spaces' brand," says Roger Marmet, the cable network's general manager. "We developed a must-see special that allowed us to own an important television night."

The big bucks special was developed as a one-time special and TLC has no immediate plans to repeat the stunt. Other stunts, however, seem very likely.
