LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - "The Joe Schmo Show" is no "Joe Millionaire," and for that Spike TV executives are rejoicing.
The finale of the fully staged "reality" show, in which everyone but the titular Schmo, Matt Kennedy Gould, was an actor, drew 3.4 million viewers Tuesday night (Oct. 2Cool. Unlike the slumping "Joe Millionaire" on FOX, the "Schmo" finale drew more than twice as many viewers as its previous high two weeks ago.
 
"'The Joe Schmo Show' has broken all the rules in what men like to watch," says Albie Hecht, president of the male-skewing network. "This reality show has taken the genre to a whole new level, and it has proven that smart, funny and clever will draw the elusive male viewer."
 
 
The hour-long finale was the highest-rated episode of an original series on the network since September 2000, when it was known as The New TNN. "Joe Schmo" outdrew broadcast net UPN for the hour in total viewers and beat both UPN and The WB in the desirable demographic of adults 18-49.
In the finale, Gould found out that the "Big Brother"-ish reality show "Lap of Luxury" was actually an elaborate, largely scripted setup and his fellow contestants were all actors. His initial shock soon turned to sort of a stunned happiness, especially when he was awarded the $100,000 he thought he'd been playing for.
 
Following the finale, a separately rated interview special with Gould and "Joe Schmo" host Ralph Garman averaged 2.4 million viewers, 230 percent better than the same time period a year ago.

On a seperate note, I'd like to thank everyone here for contributing and for making this a seperate thread. I have enjoyed talking about the show with everyone.

Thanks to you too Mag - for calling attention to Joe Schmo.  Otherwise we might have missed a super show.

I hope there is another show. But you just never know. People are going go to more cautious of shows now. Unless it's the big three (Survivor, AR, or BB) you will always have to question it.
