CBS Goes Back to 'Helter Skelter'
(Sunday, November 23 12:02 AM)

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - CBS is revisiting some old ground. In 1976, the network aired the miniseries "Helter Skelter," based on attorney Vincent Bugliosi's bestseller about the infamous Tate/LaBianca murders and subsequent trial of Charles Manson. To this day, nearly 30 years later, it remains the highest rated two-night miniseries ever broadcast.

Still a story that holds the American imagination, a new three-hour TV movie has gone into production for the network. Retaining the "Helter Skelter" title, Jeremy Davies stars as Manson, an ex-con who convinced his followers through brainwashing and mind games to kill seven people in the summer of 1969, including director Roman Polanski's eight-months pregnant actress wife Sharon Tate, coffee heiress Abigail Folger and supermarket chain president Leno LaBianca.

Bruno Kirby also stars as Bugliosi, with Clea DuVall ("Carnivale"), Allison Smith ("Kate & Allie") and Margeurite Moreau ("Firestarter 2") on board as various members of Manson's "family" of acolytes.

CBS Special Movie: Helter Skelter (MFTV-O)

Sunday, May 16, 2004, 9-11pm

Late in the summer of 1969 Charles Manson led his followers to brutally massacre seven people over two consecutive nights in Los Angeles and scrawled bloody messages on the walls of the crime scenes. "Helter Skelter" chronicles the grisly murders, whose victims include Director Roman Polanski's wife, eight-month pregnant actress Sharon Tate and coffee heiress Abigail Folger. The movie also focuses on the investigation of the gruesome slayings and the trial of Charles Manson. Jeremy Davies stars as Charles Manson and Bruno Kirby as prosecuting attorney Vincent Bugliosi.

Looks like this movie is still coming.  I wasn't able to watch the first one - it was too gruesome to watch on TV - still too fresh in my mind.

"Senility Prayer"...God grant me...
The senility to forget the people I never liked
The good fortune to run into the ones that I do
And the eyesight to tell the difference."
