I was just reading that Nick and Sara from CSI were fired. It will be tough to replace them especially the Sara character who last season made her feelings for Grissom known to him

Wow...I went looking and found this.   Sad

Case Closed for Two 'CSI' Vets Amid Pay Wrangle

Fri Jul 16, 5:29 AM ET  Add Entertainment - Reuters to My Yahoo!

By Cynthia Littleton and Nellie Andreeva

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Heads are rolling on "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation."

Reuters Photo

Sources said two supporting actors on the hit CBS crime series, George Eads and Jorja Fox (news), have been let go amid a salary scuffle with series producers CBS Prods. and Canadian firm Alliance Atlantis.

Sources said that Eads showed up for work late Thursday morning, when the show had an early 6:15 a.m. call time, and was sent a termination letter soon afterward.

Fox was understood to have been sent a similar termination letter Wednesday. Sources said CBS recently asked all of the actors on "CSI" to send in a formal letter assuring the network that they would report to work as scheduled for the start of production on the show's fifth season.

Sources said CBS terminated Fox after failing to receive her letter. It is not clear whether the actress had sent the letter, but one source indicated that she had.

Eads did comply with the network's request to submit his letter, sources said.

Eads and Fox, both of whom have been with the drama since its debut in fall 2000, had approached the network about a salary increase for the coming season, sources said. CBS is said to have responded with what industry sources described as a modest take-it-or-leave-it offer of an increase.

Eads' reps at the William Morris Agency and Fox's handlers at Int'l Creative Management declined comment on the matter, as did CBS.

Some industry veterans were surprised at the hard-line stance taken by CBS about a salary renegotiation for two longtime members of the ensemble on a hit show that has generated hundreds of millions of dollars in advertising sales and syndication profits for CBS and Alliance Atlantis.

But sources familiar with the network's position said CBS brass were determined to stand their ground because of the growing number of instances where actors with contractual obligations to a show refuse to return to work until their salaries are renegotiated. CBS faced such a situation last fall with cast members on the hit comedy "Everybody Loves Raymond."

Sources said Eads and Fox had two more seasons to go on their existing contracts. There were conflicting reports about whether series stars Marg Helgenberger (news) and William Petersen were at work Thursday, but one source said that the only cast member on the set that day was Gary Dourdan. Reports of strife on the "CSI" set came on the same day that the show earned an Emmy nomination for best drama series.

Let the scrambling begin!

Fired 'CSI' Star Hopes to Get Another Chance

Thu Jul 22, 2:10 AM ET  Add Entertainment - Reuters to My Yahoo!

By Nellie Andreeva

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - In his first public appearance since being fired from CBS' hit drama "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," George Eads called his dismissal "a misunderstanding."

Meanwhile, sources said CBS was in talks with Jorja Fox (news), the other "CSI" co-star who was let go last week after what CBS executives characterized as their failure to show up for work as scheduled after they'd made demands for salary increases.

At the summer Television Critics Assn.'s press tour to promote TNT's biopic "Evel Knievel," in which Eads plays the daredevil, Eads said he failed to show up for work July 15 because he inadvertently overslept.

Eads got the ax shortly after he didn't make the 6:30 a.m. call time. Fox was pink-slipped July 14 after the network didn't receive a required signed document assuring that the actress would report to work as scheduled.

Both Eads and Fox were said to be in a salary scuffle with series producers CBS Prods. and Alliance Atlantis when they were let go.

Sources indicated that Eads and Fox, who were making about $100,000 an episode, were offered a bump to $120,000 by the Viacom-owned network but were holding out for more.

On Wednesday, Eads asserted that his not showing up for work was not a move to get more money and that he has always believed that contracts are binding -- a direct response to a statement Sunday by Leslie Moonves, Viacom's co-president and co-chief operating officer, who said, "There comes a point where we feel a contract is a contract."

Eads said he has already apologized "nine ways to Sunday" for the incident and hopes to get the situation resolved by the weekend.

He compared the predicament to a case where the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys oversleeps on the first day of practice.

"I'd expect the coach to have me run hills and run wind sprints until the sun goes down -- not, you know, completely fire me," he said.

In the past few days, Eads been trying to reach Moonves to straighten things out but to no avail.

"It's kind of like meeting with Charlie of 'Charlie's Angels,"' he said.

Meanwhile, sources said Fox could be back on "CSI" in the near future, with multiple sources indicating that negotiations began Wednesday morning for her to return to the show.

Earlier in the week, "CSI" producers released casting breakdowns seeking a young male and female to join Las Vegas' CSI team.

CBS had no comment Wednesday on Fox and Eads' situations.

BACK ON THE SCENE:
Sources confirm that fired CSI actress Jorja Fox has been given her job back — but at her old $100,000-per-episode salary. "There will be no renegotiation," says a source close to the show. Meanwhile, Fox's costar George Eads apparently did just enough groveling at the TCA press tour on Wednesday to merit rehiring — although no official deal has been struck. "Let me tell you, I've apologized nine ways to Sunday," Eads told reporters, insisting he missed work last week because he, um, overslept. "It's a big misunderstanding, straight up." As the old saying goes, it's not a lie if you use the title of a Paula Abdul song in your defense.

Did any of you see him in the titlel role of "Evil Knievel" a couple of weeks ago.
He did a fairly good job of the portrayal.
