Everybody Loves Raymond Saying Goodbye

Everybody gets ready to say goodbye to 'Raymond'
By Gary Levin and Robert Bianco, USA TODAY
LOS ANGELES — Everybody Loves Raymond shoots its final episode Friday and airs May 16. An emotional script reading held Tuesday, just before the cast assembled for TV critics, particularly rattled co-star Patricia Heaton.

The Raymond cast shoots its final episode Friday. The sitcom ends May 16, after nine years on the air.
CBS

"She couldn't stop crying all day," star Ray Romano said at the semiannual press gathering. And Heaton likened herself to a "functioning alcoholic: I had this wonderful drug for nine years, and we've been cut off and you suddenly go cold turkey."

Said creator Phil Rosenthal: "The reason we're stopping is we've done every single thing we can think of. We're bone dry."

CBS says it's in the early stages of discussing a spinoff starring Brad Garrett, which the actor said was news to him. Still, "I love the character. I'm open to it."

Romano said he's not interested in another network series but would be open to movies or cable.

Rosenthal refused to discuss the finale, but Garrett joked that in the final half-hour, "I become a medium; I see all the arguments we haven't had yet."

With just five new episodes remaining — two to air in February, three in May — the network will ask viewers to pick five favorite episodes via an Internet poll, as NBC did with Friends last season. The top five will air Feb. 28 to March 28.

•  The Cast will be on OPRAH today at 4:00 P.M. CST

this is a good show, one of the few family sitcoms left on the air.  Very funny.  I like Ray because he reminds me that all guys act in certain ways and my bf really isn't TRYING to be a jerk  LOL.

I will miss this show

Ditto for me!  Ray's character can be so dense, childish and frustrating at times ... but with such humor and some surprising moments of clarity ... just like my husband.  Ya gotta love 'em!

I will miss this show.  It's one of only a couple of really good comedies out there now.  I'm going to hate to see it go.

My DH and I have   over this show many, many times.  Raymond's mother is SO much like my own MIL, so I feel a real kinship with Debra!

I believe it stands for Dear Husband.

Honestly I never could get into this show.  The relationship between the main characters is so combative and she just always seems pissed.  I have a pretty happy marriage and it was just hard for me to relate to them.  I couldn't watch the show without thinking about how these people could handle things so much better and have a happier marriage, but I realize that wouldn't make for great television. Wink  Conflict = ratings

I love the show - we have two favorite episodes around here.  The one where Ray and Debra get into it over the PMS and the one where Robert goes dancing in that yellow suit (when he's dating his partner).  Hilarious!!

I'm gonna miss it...

I'll love that PMS episode!

Late last night they had the one on where Ray was coughed on at the airport and came home thinking he was sick.  That was a good one.  Poor Debra and her sheer frustration over his hypochondria and Marie's babying of him, was hilarious.

And you can't forget the time Ray taped over their wedding video with a Super Bowl game.

Last night was good, however it was a rerun.
Guess they're saving the recent tapings for mid-April and May!

HIs MOm backing into the house, priceless!
The Dad not wanting to spend his money to pay?
Also priceless!
Reminds me of my husband's Dad.
