Sawyer of LOST-TV Guide Interview

How has Josh Holloway, who plays cocky hothead Sawyer on ABC's smash Lost, emerged as television's sexiest new tough guy? "He's got an incredible sense of humor and a mystique," says cocreator J.J. Abrams. "And ultimately, he's got a kick-ass pair of dimples. You can't really deny them."
Not bad for a 35-year-old Georgia country boy who'd grown so frustrated by eight years of mostly fruitless auditions that he was thisclose to packing it in. Holloway, who wed longtime love Yessica last October, talked to us about his newfound fame — not to mention love, kisses and his future on Lost.
TV Guide: Do you consider Sawyer a bad boy?
Holloway: Oh, yeah. He cons women and preys on them, and he's very good at it. But on the island, he's fighting with his own humanity. He's faced with himself and doesn't like what he sees.
TVG: Are you a bad boy in real life?
Holloway: I love to laugh and play and have fun. Do I have some of that bad boy in me? Hell, yeah. There's definitely an intense anger that I have inside, and I don't know where it came from. I've had it all my life. My mom was always like, "You're going to end up in jail with that temper!" Now I use that to help me.
TVG: How many takes did you do of the kiss with Kate?
Holloway: As many as I could! Evie and I talked about it. "You want to do the Hollywood kiss or do you want to really kiss?" She was like, "I think we should kiss." In one flashback, I was kissing Harold Perrineau's wife, Brittany. [Perrineau plays Michael; his wife played one of Sawyer's marks.]
TVG: Was that awkward?
Holloway: I went to Harold and was like, "Dude, I'm totally professional." He's like, "Dude, go for it!" We were laughing our asses off.
TVG: What does your wife think of your making out with all these women?
Holloway: Thank god she is confident and secure in our love. It's not an issue in our relationship and it should not be. It's my job.
TVG: Who do you think Kate should end up with?
Holloway: Probably Jack.
TVG: Why?
Holloway: For her own peace of mind! I would be a difficult boy to live with. But if she wants sex, I'm available!
