Sorry this is a few days old, but you'll get over it  Wink

BY DAVE GOLDINER
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

Reality is definitely setting in for the first two winners of Donald Trump's much-hyped show, "The Apprentice."
Bill Rancic and Kelly Perdew are collecting their $250,000 paychecks as promised, but the newbies spend more time shilling for The Donald than making momentous "you're fired" corporate decisions.

Rancic, 32, was supposed to run a huge Trump complex in Chicago, but instead spends most of his time giving pep talks to brokers and salespeople, Newsweek reports.

"It's a little bit too much to ask someone to be the president of an $800 million building when they haven't had that kind of experience," Trump says in this week's issue.

The owner of the world's most famous comb-over will choose a third winner in the popular reality show on Thursday.

But if the past is any guide, the winner better not expect too much responsibility.

Perdew's office is a small, windowless space next to the assistant to Donald Trump's wife, Melania - and Perdew has no gofer to call his own.

The walls are bare, except for a dry-erase board and a map stuck with pins marking the distributors he's signed up to buy his boss' new line of Trump Ice spring water, Newsweek said. "This is going to be big," Perdew, 38, vows with typical "Apprentice" aplomb.

Rancic frequently makes appearances to hype the Chicago building to crowds of real estate pros or potential buyers. But he's more mascot than decision-maker, Newsweek said.

The two apprentices insist they're not Trump's chumps. "I'm getting a full-time education here," Rancic said. And the lesson he's learned from The Donald? "Today's CEOs are celebrities," he says.

Do you think it will lessen people applying for the show? $250,000 is not bad, but if I were expecting something and I didn't get it, I'd be very disappointed.

(I keep imagining the past winners being laughed at because they weren't president of a building as promised. Lips Sealed)
