I am not sure what Americans get to watch on Travel Channel, but I get lots of great shows on Discovery Travel and Living. My favorites are Globe Trekker (formerly Lonely Planet) and the World's Best and Lonely Planet's 6 Degrees and Secrets.

I like the travel channel best around halloween, when they show all the haunted hotels and other interesting places.  Spooky...but very entertaining

I like the beaches and resorts and Cruise Ships.
Also the ones about countries and places we'd like to visit.

argh, our cable service provider stopped providing shows from discovery (discovery channel, animal planet, discov travel and living) a while back.
 
but before that, me and my sister used to enjoy watching lonely planet.
 
also, when we were on vacation, i watched "ticket to indulgence", the one about the poshest hotels in new york.
 
it's fun to watch travel shows, especially if you know you'll never experience those places yourself.
