The 57th annual Emmy Awards show will take place,
Sunday, September 18, 2005,
at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Promising to deliver a 2005 Emmy Award show worth watching, Ellen DeGeneres has been named host of the 57th annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

This year marks the third time hosting duties have been awarded to DeGeneres who quipped, "You know me, any excuse to wear a dress."

The Emmys have been known as the Oscars of the television industry ever since the first awards were given out by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in 1949.

Back then, the name "Emmy" was a feminization of "immy", the nickname for image orthicon tubes used in early television cameras. Today, (via more advanced vidicon tubes) the annual broadcast is watched by more than 600 million viewers around the world.

So far, it's been a great show.

Did anyone catch Earth, Wind and Fire and the Black Eyed Peas's perfomance? They did a different version of "September", one that included the names of different TV shows, like Survivor: Palau.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Felicity Huffman beating everyone's favorite, Teri Hatcher, in the category of Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
