I'm a little confused on the yield. I know a team can utilze the yield only once, and I know there is only one yield per episode, but can a team be yielded multiple times?

Yes...lol that would be funny

One team can be yielded once in leg 2, again in leg 3, and so on

But a team can only use the yield once.

So the secret here is that you have to be nicer to people... but thats hard where the race is about every team for itself... Plus you need to be shrewd to get ahead here. So in other words, to avoid being yielded, balance... or be nice for the sake of getting ahead!

Yeah. teams that I see getting yielded is Jim/Marsha, Alison/Dony, Kami/Karli, and Marshal/Lance. Those teams haven't been talked about nicely and haven't treated the others with a lot of respect. I think Charla/Mirna may be looking foward to yield Jim/MArsha (More so Marsha lol) or ALison/Donny. Kami/Karli may want to yield quite a couple of people for not holding that ferry but in return could get yielded for the way they took it. "I'm pissed!" said by Karli. lol

If people were smart they would yield people that are strategically/physically strogner than they are. My targets would be Alison/Donny. In fact wouldn't it be cool if they were yielded every episode until put in last place? They would survive (and fight) for like weeks. lol

I'm not sure I like the yield at all. It just seems kind of unfair and cheap. And plus you can't yield people already in front of you. Kind of loses some of the appeal there.

actually i'm thinking... what would happen if a team accidentally missed the Yield station... would they be given a penalty?... and how would a team use the yield?... they should just pick the pix of the team they want to yield?.. how would they know if that team haven't passed the station yet?... could there be someone on that station to tell that you are yielded by someone... or the yielder should wait for that person they want to yield....

I love the yield but  Iagree that it does lose some points because it can't be used for people in front of you. If you really really think about it, it can make the race more boring because the team next to last will use it on the last team behind them. The next leg the same thing could happen time after time unless they hit a fast foward.

But my reasoning as to why they chose for it not to happen the way we want it, is because everyone has to pass the yield. If you try to use it on a team ahead of you they won't be able to know they are yielded. I'm thinking that every team must go to the available yield to see if they would like to yield someone or if they have been yielded already. I still wish there was someone it was changed.

I have some similar questions and some possible anwsers to yours.

I think a team should be penalized at the pit stop with the same amount of time that was yielded plus an additional 5-10 mins (or whatever) mainly because if they don't get there they most likely won't know if they are yielded or if they have the option to yield.

I guess that they just pick a picture of the team they are yielding and when that specific team comes to the yield station they then turn over the time jar (I forgot what they call it. lol).

I really don't know how they would handle that. I guess you should know what team to yield if you want to yield someone that's behind you. If you're going out to use the yield you should know who you're yielding.

I think that someone should be at the yield station. I say Phil should be there since it's only the middle of the race saying "You've reached the middle of this leg, would you like to use the yield?" After a quick yes or no they would continue on and when the team that was yielded comes to check in at the station Phil would inform them that they have been yielded by _____ if he even tells them who did it. I think that's cool idea. lol

If you have to wait to yield someone then it's now worth it imo unless the team you're yielding is actually racing to the yield against you (as in a sprint to the station or something).

Whew, I've done a lot of typing for one post I guess. I haven't researched any of this so don't take my word on it. It's pure speculation.

See ya'll later.

hahahah... yeah that was a long one... :laff:

anyways... I don't think that its possible for Phil to stay at the yield station 'coz he has to get ahead of the pack in the pit stop... or else the country mascot or representative will say... 'sorry but your Philiminated!'.. hehehee Grin

I guess I had to let a load of off my brain! haha.

That's why the yield should be in the middle of the race (or at least 1/4). That way PHil could have enought time to be back to greet them at the end. But then again we have saw teems come in a day later so that idea is gone.  I can only imagine an asian mascot say "Sorry but you're Philminated!" lol haha. I love all of the mascots accents for some reason. Especially the one in the first episode. She sounded so cute and perky.

I was reading or watching something somewhere about how the watchers of the show think that Phil just has a hayday and gets to travel and sightsee and stuff, but in reality, he's rushing to beat the teams to the pitstop.

but back to the main subject...

Didn't it say somewhere that the yield station was in a prominent place that really could NOT be missed unless a team was in the wrong country or something? I thought I heard that.

i dont get it yet...

is this the (i hope not!) "replacement" for my favorite part of the amazing race, the road block?

it's oh so confusing!

i like it better when they have the detours and the road blocks, nothing more!

ehehehehe!

No, it can't replace the roadblock because I read on the CBS website that there just wasn't a roadblock in the first leg of the race... I don't remember there ever being a roadblock in the first leg of the race.

yup... there is always no roadblock at the first episode.. I don't think that the roadblock is scrapped 'coz that is one of the big clinchers in the whole race....Cheesy

yup I also read that in an article that was posted here.... Cheesy

I'm not sure what happens if a team misses the Yield station.  Based upon the first leg, it looks like the Yields are placed in such a way where it is virtually impossible to miss them.  With this group of travellers, though, anything is possible.

From my understanding, to use the Yield, you simply indicate which team you want to use the Yield on and pull their picture; this lets the Yielded team know that they've been Yielded.

As each team passes the Yield, they pull a placement marker.  This not only lets you know which teams are ahead of you, but you can also find out what order the teams are in.  This, in fact, is one of the biggest issues that I have with the Yield - the mystery of what place you're in has been taken away.  If a team finds out that their in last place at the Yield marker (especially if they've been Yielded), they may just give up instead of trying to fight back.  One of the biggest draws of the previous seasons, IMO, was how the last place team never gave up in the hopes that they just *might* pull off an upset somehow.

It would make it interesting if the Yielder had to wait for the team they wanted to Yield; this would have the effect of actually Yielding the people wanting to use the Yield as well.  What an interesting dynamic that would be!  Won't ever happen, but an interesting thought none-the-less.

Until that time...

no one use the yield in the third leg for 3 seasons so maybe they should move it to leg 5 or something.
