TAR7 Ep1 Recap -- Suck It Up!

Finally it's here!! The Amazing Race is back! Cheesy

We start off this race in Long Beach, California, and are introduced to the new 11 teams.

- Debbie and Bianca, Lifelong friends.
- Lynn and Alex, boyfriends.
- Rob and Amber from Survivor.
- Ryan and Chuck, Best friends.
- Megan and Heidi, Best friends.
- Susan and Patrick, Mother and son.
- Meredeth and Gretchen, married couple.
- Brian and Greg, brothers.
- Uchenna and Joyce, married couple.
- Ron and Kelly, former POW, and Pageant Queen.
- Ray and Deana, dating off and on.

Then we hear Phil say those famous words: "The world is waiting.......... Good luck.......... Travel safe........ GO!!" and the race is on.

RRRRIIIIIIPPP! The first destination will be Lima, Peru. Rob seems to have a hard time opening the trunk, and Megan and Heidi have a bit of a problem driving the car. (I hope they don't do the same thing that happened to Maria and Meredith!)

So finally the teams get to Peru. One flight arrives an hour and 20 minutes later than the first. Once they arrive they take a bus five miles to Plaza de Armas, to find the next clue there. Next they must find another bus (or boos) that will take them to Ancon which is 30 miles away.

Rob and Amber seem to be getting help from locals that recognize them from Survivor. This really makes the other teams mad I think. Or at least some of them. Susan and Patrick seem to work well with Debbie and Bianca, and Megan and Heidi get lost in the streets of Peru.

At the beach in Ancon, there are tickets for planes to the city of Cuzco. There are three different times : 6:00, 7:00, and 7:40.
6:00 - Rob and Amber, Susan and Patrick, Debbie and Bianca
7:00 - Brian and Greg (who were behind but there were still 7:00's left...), Uchenna and Joyce, Lynn and Alex, Ray and Deana
7:40 - Megan and Heidi, Ryan and Chuck, Meredith and Gretchen, Ron and Kelly

At the airport, we find out that the 7:00 plane has been delayed 45 minutes, which would put the other teams behind.. so all the teams on the 7:00 flight are now on the 7:40 one.

The teams then do a bit more traveling and eventually they arrived at a gorge in Huambutio. (At least no one called it George this time) The teams will then zip line down the gorge on two lines. Ryan and Chuck mention "load testing" it. LOL

Then the teams get the detour. The detour is Rope a Llama or Rope a Basket. In Rope a Llama, teams must catch two llamas and guide them up a hill into a pen. Susan and Patrick choose the llamas and about get drowned in their spit. However, Meredith and Gretchen choose the llamas as well, and have no problem. Debbie and Bianca are having a hard time deciding which detour to choose, and finally decide on the llamas. Ryan and Chuck also do the llamas, but they only take one at a time. I don't think that was a good idea.\

The other detour choice was Rope a Basket. In Rope a basket, teams must each carry a huge basket of alfalfa 2/3 of a mile. Rob and Amber choose this detour and complete it easily. Lynn and Alex don't have much trouble, and Deana is having a hard time with the baskets. Ray tells her, "Suck it up." Meanwhile, the basket is choking her. "Seconds count!" he says. (*cough* Does he remind you of someone? Lips Sealed

)
Finally, the teams make their way to the Pit Stop and arrive in this order.............

1st - Debbie and Bianca (and win $10,000 each!! Shocked

)
2nd - Susan and Patrick
3rd - Rob and Amber
4th - Brian and Greg
5th - Lynn and Alex
6th - Meredith and Gretchen
7th - Ray and Deana
8th - Uchenna and Joyce
9th - Megan and Heidi
10th - Ron and Kelly

Last and eliminated - Ryan and Chuck. Sad
