Episode 4 - What a Gaucho you are!

THE SEQUESTERSCENE

 
We felt bad for every team that were eliminated… But geez, here’s a once in a lifetime chance that you will hear from them after being booted out of the game. Welcome to Sequsterscene!
 
In this room, Ryan and Chuck, Megan and Heidi and Debbie and Bianca are seated comfortably. Televisions and connection wires are scattered. They are about to see The Amazing Race live…  
 

 
Bianca: Oh my gosh Debbie... This feels bad. We were minutes away from beating Susan and Patrick. You kicked ass in that roadblock.  
Debbie: Yeah… But what can we do? There are rules to be followed and we made a terrible mistake in taking the wrong route.  
Megan: Oh yes you did…
Heidi: That’s sad to see… We actually think you girls are one of the strongest competitors.
Bianca: Wow! Thanks! But we drove far away from the Andes. We asked for directions inside a hotel, we listened well, but I just think he gave us wrong directions.
Ryan: That’s okay. At least you caught up with them and you finished only minutes apart from Susan and Patrick.
 
After the meat roadblock in Mendoza, the teams left the Pitstop in this order:
 
1st - Lynn and Alex
2nd - Uchenna and Joyce  
3rd - Brian and Greg
4th - Ron and Kelly  
5th - Rob and Amber  
6th - Ray and Deana
7th - Maredith and Grethchen  
8th - Susan and Patrick  
 
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiipppppp!
Clue: drive 25 miles to the small town of La Lunta and find the ranch known as Cabaña La Guatana for your next clue.
 
At the ranch, Lyn and Alex arrived first. But they discovered the ranch was still close and will only open at 6:30 am. They then waited for 30 minutes outside.  
 
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiipppppppp!
Roadblock: In this Roadblock, one Team member had to participate in a traditional gaucho challenge. First, they must ride a horse around a series of barrels and then, using a stick, spear a ring at the end of the course. If they could perform the task in 40 seconds, a competitive time for an Argentine cowboy, they would receive their next clue.
 

 
Chuck: Dude! We’ll do good at that! Damn Horses are just like our motorcycles!
Ryan: I bet! We’ll be like done in a try or two! Just kick that horse’s butt and you’re right on!
All: Hahahaha!
 
The other teams arrived: (in this order)
Lynn and Alex - Alex finished 1st in a record of 39 seconds
Uchenna and Joyce - Joyce finished 2nd in a record of 37 seconds
Ron and Kelly - Kelly finished 3rd in a record of  35 seconds
Brain and Greg - Brian finished 4th in a record of 33.75 seconds
Rob and Amber - Rob finished 5th in a record of 33 seconds
Ray and Deana - Deana finished 7th in a record of 33 seconds
Maredith and Gretchen - Maredith finished 6th in a record of 39 seconds
And Susan and Patrick Patrick finished last in a record of 39 seconds
 
Riiiiiiiiiiippppppp!
Clue: fly on one of the available flights to Buenos Aires. The first departed at 9:30 am and the second left at 2:30 pm. Once in Buenos Aires, they had to travel by taxi to the English Clock Tower and find a man in a raincoat who will give them their next clue.  
 
Teams Lynn and Alex, Uchenna and Joyce, Ron and Kelly and Brian and Greg got in the 9:30 am flight. Not knowing that another team is minutes away from catching up, everyone got frustrated upon seeing Rob and Amber being able to catch the flight as well.
 
Debbie: What’s with that Survivor guy? He’s got all the luck in his side!  
Bianca: I wonder what he does to get ahead of the other teams…
Heidi: (whispering to Megan) They weren’t here the last episode so they didn’t what Rob did! Hihihihi!  
Megan: Should we tell them or not? Eeerrr, just let them find out on their own. Hihihi!
Ryan: Shhhhhh girls!  
 
The other teams, Maredith and Gretchen, Ray and Deana and Susan and Patrick settled with the 2nd flight to Buenos Aires which is scheduled to leave at 2:30 pm.
 
In Buenos Aires, the first 5 teams took a cab and proceeded to English Clock Tower and looked for the Raincoat man. Teams arrived and got their clues which says:
 

 
Riiiiiiiippppppp!
Clue: travel by train 20 miles to the city of Tigre and find docks located at 700 Lavalle.
 
The train station is just across the Tower. Rob and Amber arrived there first and found out that it’ll leave in 10 minutes. Rob & Amber watched their slim advantage disappear as all five Teams boarded the same train to Tigre.
 
At the dock, teams arrived in this order and found this detour:
 
Riiiiiiiiippppppp!
Detour: This Detour required Teams to choose between Shipwreck and Island. Teams choosing Shipwreck had to search a seven-square-mile area filled with abandoned ships for a specific shipwreck using only a 30-year-old picture as a reference. To complete Island, Teams had to use a map to travel four miles through the confusing delta waterways to the San Antonio River and find an island on which their next clue was located.
 

 
Lynn and Alex - looked for the island and finished last.
Rob and Amber - looked for the Shipwreck and finished 1st.
Uchenna and Joyce - looked for the island and finished 4th.
Ron and Kelly - looked for the island and finished 3rd.
Bran and Greg - looked for the Shipwreck and finished 2nd.
 
Chuck: Wow! That was bad luck for Lynn and Alex huh! They were fast but their boat sucks!
Ryan: Yeah there’s nothing they can do about that..  
Megan: Well, if that would have been us, for sure the boat wouldn’t break off. They are like 120 or more lbs heavier than us. The machine got wet because they were too heavy I guess. And that made them sink.
Heidi: Yeah! That’s right Megan! Brilliant!
 
Riiiiiiippppp!
Clue: travel 35 miles by taxi to the town of Vicente Casares and find La Martina, the most prestigious polo club in Argentina and the Pit Stop for this leg of the race.
 
Teams arrived in this order:
1st – Rob and Amber (won a five-night European vacation courtesy of Travelocity.)
2nd – Brian and Greg
3rd – Uchenna and Joyce
4th – Ron and Kelly
5th – Lynn and Alex
 
Bianca: Oh they checked in 1st again?! What the?!
Debbie: Well at least we’re the only ones who were given money as a reward.  
Chuck: You did great during the 1st leg.
Bianca: Yeah… But our luck was cut. Too bad!
Megan and Heidi: Go Brian and Greg!!!
 
Arriving in Buenos Aires, teams Ray and Deana, Maredith and Gretchen and Susan and Patrick traveled by taxi and headed to the tower. Teams arrived at Tower in this order:
 

 
1st – Maredith and Gretchen
2nd – Ray and Deana
3rd – Susan and Patrick
 
After reading the clue, Maredith and Gretchen got on the train first as Ray and Deana catched up with them. On the other hand, Susan and Patrick thought they were ahead of the other two teams and pulled to Tigre alone in a later train ride.  
 
Teams arrived in the dock in this order:
1st – Maredith and Gretchen - looked for the island and finished 2nd to the last
2nd – Susan and Patrick - looked for the island and finishes last
3rd – Ray and Deana - looked for the island and finished 1st.
 
Teams traveled by taxi to the Pitstop and finished this leg in this order:
 
1st – Rob and Amber (won a five-night European vacation courtesy of Travelocity.)
2nd – Brian and Greg
3rd – Uchenna and Joyce
4th – Ron and Kelly
5th – Lynn and Alex
6th – Ray and Deana
7th – Maredith and Gretchen
8th and eliminated – Susan and Patrick
 
Bianca: That was sad to see. They were our allies and I was hoping they’d get far.  
Debbie: Yeah… But Susan was right, they can’t fix the boat.
Ryan: Even if they can, with Patrick’s pessimistic view they wouldn’t be able to catch up.  
Heidi: Yeah… He’s just so negative.
Megan: I like her Mom’s spirit though.
Chuck: Another great episode. Next one will be with them in here as well…
 

 
And that was it for Susan and Patrick and the other eliminated teams. The end of The Sequesterscene.

Well, my connection was pretty bad a while ago (and even now!) I needed to write the recap.. Write the conversations and edit pictures.. and then upload them in my super slow connection. Jenna asked for help at around 6pm I think (forumsnet time) and I finished it 7:40..
