Spring BBM data reveals record trend continuing for CTV’s prime-time line-up

CTV's White Hot Spring: The Amazing Race Outguns All As CTV Lands 9 of The Top 10; 18 of The Top 20 Programs
Toronto, ON (April 11, 2005) – Spring ratings have arrived and CTV's red hot Winter has turned into a white hot Spring. Late breaking national Spring rankings from BBM confirms that CTV has 9 of Canada's Top 10 programs and 18 of the Top 20 when measuring total viewers.

In both key selling demos (Adults 18-49, Adults 25-54), the dominance continues where CTV programs hold 8 of the Top 10 spots and 17 of the Top 20. See below for a complete list of Canada's Top 20 programs.

Chiming in as Canada's new undisputed No. 1 program is CTV's The Amazing Race whose Season 7 average of 2.972 million viewers has now surpassed Survivor 10 (Global, 2.970 M) in total viewers. Holding on to its No. 1 position amongst Adults 18-34, Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54, it has now managed a clean sweep on its way to another thrilling finale. Race's run to No. 1 began during its season premiere when it set a new audience record with 3.05 million viewers (March 1). In just over a month, viewers have catapulted the program to No. 1.

CTV's Tuesday night reality block of American Idol and The Amazing Race (8-10 p.m.) averages a combined 2.96 million viewers, outperforming Thursday night s Survivor/Apprentice reality block by 32 per cent in total viewers (Global, 2.24 million viewers) confirming Canada's best reality programming gets real on CTV**.

BBM also confirms that CTV's dramatic dominance is just that - dramatic. All 12 drama programs in Canada's Top 20 belong on CTV, led by Canada's top drama CSI (No. 4, 2.8M viewers), and joined by Canada's top new dramas, Desperate Housewives (No. 11, 1.74M viewers), Medium (No. 12, 1.73M viewers), Law and Order: Trial By Jury (No. 15, 1.6 viewers) and Lost (No. 16, 1.58 viewers).

Television's No. 1 Comedy and the only Canadian scripted series in the Top 20 is CTV's Corner Gas (No. 17, 1.5M viewers), which wrapped is sophomore season (March 2 Cool

flirting with the two-million viewer mark. Corner Gas earns 42 per cent more viewers than The Simpsons (Global, 1.08M, No. 27), and pulls in 66.1 per cent more viewers than 39th-ranked Joey (Global, 929,000).

And reflecting CTV's dominance in News is CTV Evening News which averages 1.6 million viewers and stands as Canada's only newscast inside the Top 20 (No. 14).

Summarizing today's BBM results, CTV lays claim to Canada's No. 1 program (The Amazing Race), Canada's No. 1 reality block (Tuesday, American Idol/The Amazing Race), all of Canada's Top 20 dramas (12), Canada's No. 1 drama (CSI), Canada's No. 1 NEW drama (CSI: New York), Canada's No. 1 Canadian series (Corner Gas) and Canada's No. 1 news program (CTV Evening News). The data reflects an on-going trend of unprecedented success CTV has had dating back to Summer 2003 when it became the most-watched broadcaster in prime-time in total viewers and all three key adult demographics (Adults 18-34, Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54).

How cool is that! AHH!!! I found the article on ctv.ca lol! I'm so happy TAR IS THE NUMBER 1 SHOW IN ALL OF CANADA that is awsome! And it beat out Survivor! I though CSI would be the number 1 show..but tar is!

Yea, Heather, that's what I was wondering about. But, who cares! TAR IS NUMBER 1 HERE! SO YAYA! Personally, I don't think CSI IS THAT GOOD at all, I don't know what the big fuss is about..so I'm soo happy for TAR! yaya! It deserves to be #1!

I saw a commercial for CSI, and it said 110 million people tune in to watch it EVERY night! I'm like seriously omgsh that's a lot of people! And TAR only gets what? 2 million lol! But thats the averag so who knows hehe..but TAR actually gets 3 million..2.972 blah blah Is basically 3 million!

I'm happy TAR did better than Survivor cause TAR is way better than Survivor!
