'Amazing Race' tie-ins
The conclusion of "The Amazing Race" last month earned record ratings, and now the race is on in the travel industry to hitch a ride on the show's popularity.

Tourism boards, hotels and travel companies affiliated with destinations featured on the show -- in which pairs of contestants race one another to a dozen or more sites around the world -- hope that the CBS reality series will attract tourists. Several companies have begun ad campaigns and offers with "Amazing Race" tie-ins.

Icelandair, 800-779-2899 www.icelandairholidays.com,is offering a "Trace the Race" package, an eight-day vacation in Iceland (featured in the show's sixth season) that includes round-trip air fare from New York, lodging and a rental car with unlimited mileage, starting at $1,859 a person in low season, $2,499 in high season.

The Canadian Outback Adventure Co., 800-565-8735 www.canadianoutback.com, has taken a different approach and devised its own version of the race. The "Amazing Race Whistler" (Whistler, British Columbia, was not featured in the series) is a three-hour race involving activities like kayaking, rock climbing and zip lining. Cost: $80, at 80 cents Canadian to the U.S. dollar, which includes a T-shirt, bottled water and entry fees.

The Atlantis Paradise Island Resort, 888-528-7155 www.atlantis.com, was the site of a CBS broadcast last month, "Rob and Amber Get Married," the televised wedding of Rob Mariano and Amber Brkich in the Bahamas. The couple met on the CBS show "Survivor" and went on to compete in "The Amazing Race." Guests looking for the same experience -- Champagne, truffles and limousines -- can get it through the "Legendary Romance Package," with three-night packages in low season for $1,009 a person; high season is $1,269.

That'd be fun... the zip line!  Grin I wish they'd do something like that where I live.

I want to visit Atlantis Paradise Island soooooo badly. That is going to be the first place I go on vacation when I can afford it. It is such a beautiful place, and I have always wanted to go there.

I try ro get people in my class to watch TAR but it's on until 11:00 at night where I live so noone watches it except this one person that sits beside me.  (I tape every episode so I watch it the next day)  I recently lent her all my TAR tapes.  There were four of them:TAR5 finale, TAR6 finale, The TAR7 finale and the Brian/Greg's accident episode.  She only borrowed them for about 3 months lol  Angry Angry Angry Angry
