TAR Trivia from Wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazing_Race

I have added Forumsnet as a link at the bottom.

1. the show makes the point of not actually showing the crews to the point where crewmen have actually been digitally removed from the picture in post-production

2. Due to the rather obvious nature of the crossing of the finish line, in later seasons several "decoy runs" have been done where teams from the final four are filmed crossing individual finish lines, to deter people from learning the identity of the winning team.

3. The stunt casting of teams where producers have tended to cast models, actors, and more recently past reality show stars. For example, Season 5, featured one past reality show contestant (Alison was on Big Brother), Season 7, featured three past reality show contestants (Brian was on Fear Factor; Rob and Amber had been on multiple editions of Survivor). In fact, many teams had connections to the producers or past contestants, trivializing the standard application process. For example, Dennis and Erika (Season 5) had known previous racers Jon Vito and Jill (Season 3) for many years.

4.# 45 potential teams for the race were sequestered at a hotel before the race began. Since teams were not allowed to speak to one another, brothers Brian and Greg originally contacted Heidi and Megan by sending them milk and cookies through a waiter.
# Uchenna and Joyce were originally scheduled to appear on Season 6. They were sequestered in Santa Monica, California at the beginning of that race, but were cut at the last minute before the race began in Chicago.

5. In Leg 8, Meredith broke three bones in his foot after it had been run over during the elephant Detour, and later by a tuktuk. However, he did not reveal his injury to production, because he feared that it would force him to leave the race.

6. # n a radio interview [4], Uchenna and Joyce said that they won the race by 45 minutes, even though Rob and Amber were 7 minutes ahead of them at the first Miami cluebox at Rickenbacker Causeway.

7. According to Aaron of Season 6, Rob and Amber received a commission of $500,000 for racing in this installment.

8. TAR6 featured many Olympic themed challenges such as water polo, track and field, swimming, and archery. This was due to the fact that the race was filmed during the same time as the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.

9. Models Freddy and Kendra knew other models from previous editions of the race: Derek and Drew from Season 3 and Kelly and Jon from Season 4. Freddy and Kendra actually used the same make of backpack used by Derek and Drew.

10. Post-game interviews suggested that Kris and Jon were less than a minute behind winners Freddy and Kendra before a train held them up at a railway crossing. At Fishbowl.com, Bolo suggested that Kris and Jon were only 30-40 seconds behind Freddy and Kendra to the finish. At RealityReel, Kristy said that "Right after Freddy and Kendra started running, literally within 30 seconds or a minute later the train came, and Kris and Jon arrived. Otherwise it would have come down to a neck to neck race."

and lots more....

Hey Genius, were all those facts found in that Wikipedia entry?  The first one is really interesting where they've digitally removed things in post production.

Good job in adding Forumsnet to the list.  Genius move, haha.

Interesting about having many countries' visas added to each racer's passports. Also found many other useful informations outside TAR on the site. Thanks a lot, Genius.

I hate #10.  Cry It's like Tara and Wil all over again, with the addition of the train. I just don't understand why the finish line is near a operating railway track anyway.  Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry

Leg 3 featured a difficult Roadblock in which players had to eat four pounds of meat and organs. An unprecedented four players actually quit the food eating task: Rob, Meredith, Deanna, and Patrick. Although it was not shown on television, Patrick quit the Roadblock but later decided to complete it.

Found this ^^ in tar 7 trivia! omgsh is that fair??!!!!! i thought if a person decided to quit, and they say " i want to take this penalty " they have to complete the penalty, they can't just decided they want to complete the roadblock..can they?

oh this would have soo changed the whole race had he taken the penalty  Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry

From The Amazing Race 5 in Wikipedia

Trivia:

General

* The final 3 teams raced through 6 continents, 11 countries, and traveled 72,000 miles. In the final leg, teams travelled to Canada instead of going directly to the United States.
* This edition featured the first father/daughter team, cousins team & female twins team.
* Linda and Karen & Kami and Karli were officially the top two female teams in the history of The Amazing Race when they passed Leg 10 since Nancy & Emily were eliminated at the pit stop in Season 1.

[edit]

Pre-Race

* Alison Irwin of Big Brother USA was the first reality star to take part in this race.
* Erika, Alison, Nicole and Christie all knew one another from competing in various beauty pageants. Christie was a former Miss Teen USA champion, while Nicole was the winner of Miss Texas USA.

[edit]

In-Race

* Marshall and Lance were the first team to quit from the race.
* Nicole spent 4 hours to complete the caviar challenge in St. Petersburg in Leg 4.
* The woman that welcomed the teams in the pit stop of Leg 11 (Rotorua, New Zealand to Manila, Philippines) was Luli Arroyo, the daughter of the current Philippine president, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
* On the final leg (Leg 13), Colin ordered the limousine in Dallas by using a fake credit card number. Teams were only allowed to use their provided credit cards for purchasing airfare.
* A tire blowout experienced in Dallas by Colin and Christie's limo was not shown in Leg 13 of the show. This mishap essentially prevented them from winning the race.

Post-Race

* Two challenges were edited out of the program since they did not affect team placement. First, there was a nut finding Roadblock in the markets of Dubai. Second, there was a teepee building challenge in Banff, Alberta.[1]
* Charla & Mirna appeared on MadTV in an Amazing Race parody.
* Colin and Christie gave one of their trips to Dennis and Erika.

Did the limo company ever discovered they received a fake credit card number?  Huh
