TAR8 - Episode Two Recap

Welcome to another episode of The Amazing Race : Family Edition. Previously on The Amazing Race, 10 teams of 4 started the "family vacation" of a lifetime. Some teams got along well, while others fought the whole way. In the end, The Black Family was eliminated. 9 teams remain, who will be eliminated next?

The Godlewski sisters departed first, at 7:57 am.
Route Info -- Drive 15 miles to York, Pennsylvania and find Shoehouse Road. Once there, they had to find the Haines Shoe House. At the top of this giant shoe was their next clue. But the sisters had to stop for gas, and the Gaghan's arrived there first, to find out their next destination was...... Washington, DC! (Heather's note : Hey, I've been there!) The next clue would be found in the Reflecting Pool at the CAPITOL BUILDING. (Heather's note : Remember that guys, it might come in handy some day!)

Getting to Washington wasn't easy though. The Rogers Family had a particuarly hard time, getting lost along the way, causing them to fall into last place. The Gaghans and The Schroeders didn't have much of a problem, and arrived in First and Second Place, respectively. Neither team thought that there was more than one Reflecting Pool, so they continued looking for the clue. The Godlewskis and The Weavers arrived next, and knew exactly where to go. The Weavers got to the clue box first and found that they had to find a limo on 3rd Street and get a briefcase. (Heather's note : This is where I think a former racer appearence was going to be. I was hoping to see Charla and Mirna because they live in Baltimore, but whatever.) After getting the briefcase, the teams have to take it to the Tidal Basin, close to the Jefferson Memorial.

The Schroeders talk to a local and find out that they made a mistake. They don't tell the Gaghans, and just leave them walking around looking for a clue that doesn't exist. The Paolos and The Bransens are now looking for the clue as well.

The Godlewski's arrive at the Tidal Basin to find........ A ROADBLOCK! As you know, a roadblock is a task only one person may perform. In this roadblock, that person must carry the briefcase they have with them, and find a spy with a matching briefcase. Of 50 spies, only 10 are matching. The racer would have to say, "The sky is blue." and the spy would have to answer "The sea is green." Sharon does the RB for the Godlewskis, with DJ Paolo and Rebecca Weaver not far behind.

Sharon finishes the Roadblock fairly quickly, and finds out that they have to go to Welbourne Manor, in Middleburg, Virginia to find their next clue.

Most teams find the clue back in Washington DC easily, but the Gaghans are having major problems. The Rogers finally find their way to Washington, and are with the Gaghans....still lost. The Rogers tell the Gaghans to reread the clue.... this turns out to be a big mistake as the Gaghans pass them.

Meanwhile, the Paolos continue to bicker, as usual. Marion Paolo tells her family that they need to stop for gas. DJ isn't listening. "We're fine," he says. After the Roadblock, that changes. They have to stop for gas, making them drop from 3rd to 7th. "None of you ever, ever listen to me!" Mama Paolo says.

At the Welbourne Manor, the Weavers and the Godlewskis find a Detour. Heat of the Battle or Heat of the Night. In Heat of The Battle, teams participated in a Civil War re-enactment, and must carry 5 wounded soldiers on stretchers. In Heat of the Night, Teams had to roll a barrel of oil and fill 20 oil lamps, transport them to a table, and light all 20. After the teams were finished, they could make their way to the Pit Stop, where a team may be eliminated.

The Weavers picked the oil lamps, While the Godlewskis went for the Battle. The Linzes catch up to them, and pick Battle to try to take the lead. They worked well together, but neither them or the Godlewskis could beat the Weavers, who came in first and won a trip to the Fairmont Southhampton (Heather's Note : Which must be some nice place, where ever it is..... lol) The Linzes came in 2nd, with the Godlewskis in a nice third.

Other teams were still having problems. Walter Bransen was having a very hard time keeping up with his daughters. The Aiellos came ahead and got 5th, while the Bransens settled for 6th. The Gaghans caught up and took 7th, and were just happy they weren't eliminated over their mistake.

The Paolos and The Rogers were the last two teams to arrive at the Detour. The Rogers picked Battle first, but decided to switch after their mom said she couldn't do it. The Paolos picked the Battle, and struggled through it. But in the end, The Paolos came in 8th for the leg. Brian said, "She complains like everything, but she comes through in the clutch."

So in the end, The Rogers Family was eliminated from the race. "After this race, I'm the glue that will hold us together. It's extremely hard, but at the end of the day, we're still the Rogers family."

I hope you like my recap! Cheesy
