How long is this leg going to go on?
Recrapped by: JP

If you think my recap sounds like the one on CBS, then you're not mistaken. I have a little free time in my hands (yea right) so I just copied CBS's recap and added some salt and pepper to taste.

Here we go!

Departing the Pit Stop in first place at 12:34 am, the Linz family opened their clue to discover they needed to drive to Park City High School, the only High School in the world with it's own built in Animal Park. Just kidding. What's the significant of picking the school? Free parking perhaps. Megan is not feeling well. Must be the monthly thingy? At the school, the siblings opened another clue instructing them to help a crew to inflate a hot air balloon. They were then to get onboard for a scenic ride over the Utah countryside. Starting at 6 am, shuttles would depart for the balloon site every ten minutes with each shuttle carrying one Team. 6 am! Yay! Time for the other teams to catch up!

With the Linzes, Bransens, and Godlewskis all sleeping in their campers at the high school (I told you they'll catch up), the Weaver family departed the Pit Stop in last place at 5:02 am, more than three hours behind the other Teams, which made me so happy. However, this deficit was erased in a matter of minutes when the Weavers excitedly pulled into the high school parking lot as the other Teams woke up from their nap in anticipation of the shuttles. This made me sad. Taunting her opponents, Linda Weaver shouted, “Were you sorry you wasted your yield? You will be!” Like she has a special Yield she can use anytime. In shock, the Godlewski sisters muttered, “What is her problem? Psycho.” Afterwards, the Weavers, very proud of their behavior, commented, “Even if we don’t win, we got to say what we wanted to say.”

After taking the 6 am shuttle, the Linz family set to work on inflating their 700-pound balloon after removing it from the back of the truck along with the basket that would hold them. As the other three Teams inflated their balloons, the Linzes set sail, admiring the view from above. While the Linzes nearly collided in mid-air with the Bransens, which was shown in the promos, they eventually landed safely on the ground to earn their next clue. Again, the collision accident was just hype. Opening it, they learned they had to drive 14 miles to Heber City and find Heber Valley Railway.

The following was not in the CBS recap. I wonder why. Anyway, the Weavers must have angered their balloon pilot while up in the air, because the pilot decided to scare the Weavers by landing the balloon on a hillside, unlike the other teams who landed on flat lands. The basket precariously dangled sideways, but disappointedly remained stable enough for the Weavers to get off safely. They then slide down the hill like it was the most fun thing to do. Yay.

Arriving at the Heber Valley Railway in first place, the Linz family opened their clue to discover a Detour. In this Detour, Teams had to choose between Spike It and Steam It, both had nothing to do with hair styling. In Spike It, Teams used old-time materials and tools to complete a 20-foot section of railway track. The task required precision work, but Teams with an eye for detail could finish quickly. In Steam It, Teams used buckets to fill the tender of an old-time steam locomotive with 400 pounds of coal. The task didn’t require any precision (read: for weaklings), but running hundreds of pounds of coal back and forth could take a long time.

As the Linz siblings ran off to begin constructing their piece of the railroad by lifting heavy steel rails, the Bransens pulled in and opted for the same choice, but not before Lindsay struggled with the definition of precision. It's something to do with perfect if you ask me. With both Teams making progress by pounding spikes in the railroad ties and slamming the metal rails into place with efficiency, the Godlewski sisters showed up and tried flexing their muscles on the railroad as well. However, they got off to a rocky start when Sharon didn’t appreciate Validate-Me-Christine’s “help” by holding a spike in place with her wrench, shouting, “Move! Get out of my way! You’re not helping!” A hurt Ms. Validation replied, “Don’t talk to me like I’m an animal or something.”

As the sisters continued their bickering, the Weavers, trying to find a way out of last place, chose to haul coal to the tender of a locomotive. Too bad for me, it was a good decision: Never do the same Detour as the other teams if you're trying to catch up. Using teamwork, Linda would fill a pail and hand it up to her children who threw it into tender before running back to the large pile of coal for another round. They were shockingly good at this.

After failing an inspection of their railroad work because of a faulty spike, the Linzes made the needed correction to earn their next clue. Opening it, they discovered they had to drive 148 miles to the Bonneville Salt Flats and find the 87-foot sculpture known as the Tree of Utah, which was built to bring color and beauty to the stark landscape. Uh huh. Because of Wally’s strength and coordination in hitting the spikes, the Bransen family finished close behind the Linzes. After, Wally remarked, “This was my chance to shine as opposed to dragging them down like I do most legs.” Good for you Wally! And you're losing some weight too.

With the Godlewskis still struggling to work together, the Weavers finished hauling their coal to move into third. As the Weavers hurried off, the Godlewskis fighting worsened, and I pull my hair out in disbelief. Annoyed with Ms. Validate-Me, Michelle shouted, “Can I have a different partner, please? One with a smaller mouth?” Then, working with Sharon, Christine was met with the order, “Don’t get in my way, please.” Michelle and Sharon also tried to blame Christine for choosing this Detour, forcing Chris to defend herself, yelling, “We all did. Just stop it!” Finally, the inspector got tired of them and gave the sisters their clue, and the ladies headed to the Bonneville Flats. Chris began crying, but got no sympathy, nor validation,  from her sisters.

Arriving in the stark white fields of the Bonneville Salt Flats, the Linzes located the colorful Tree of Utah along with their next clue. Of course the clue was like 100 meters away from the tree itself. Opening it, they learned they had to drive 400 miles to Garden City and find Bear Lake Rendezvous Beach where they would be camping for the night. The order that they arrived would determine their departure the following morning. Beginning at 8:30 am, departure times would be 15 minutes apart. They're treating the teams like babies. Let them travel all night. With the Bransens arriving moments later to what they dubbed “The Tree of Hemorrhoids,” the race for the 8:30 am departure was underway, like it's the most exciting part of the race. The Bransens, with Wally at the wheel, nabbed the 8:30 am spot while the Weaver family arrived in second place. With the Godlewskis securing the 9 am departure in third place, the Linz family settled for a 9:15 am departure after a production problem caused them to fall into last place. That's twice in a row now. Me thinks they've got the camera man that the sisters got last time.

The next morning at 8:30 am, the Bransens opened their clue to discover they needed to drive 137 miles to Big Piney, Wyoming and find the Dunham Ranch near the headwaters of the Green River. With all Teams en route to Wyoming, the last place Linzes knew they had some ground to make up. Alex commented, “It doesn’t matter who we get in front of as long as we’re getting in front of people.” Oh, we know that too.

Arriving at the Dunham Ranch in first place, the Bransens opened their clue to discover a Roadblock. In this Roadblock, two Team members had to mount horses, take six cattle from a holding pen and herd them downrange a quarter mile into a corral. Sounds hard? Not really. They didn't do anything but ride with some cowboys, who were the one who herded the cattles. With Wally giving the advice of “don’t be afraid to ride them,” (why don't YOU ride a horse, Wally?) Beth and Lauren trotted into the lush green Utah field on their selected horses. After releasing the cattle and smaller calves from the pen, the two sisters (plus a bunch of cowboys) began directing them through the field toward the corral. After getting the cattle all safely in the pen (no, not THAT kind of pen, silly), the Bransens opened their next clue that instructed them to drive 190 miles to Yellowstone National Park and find Old Faithful, which erupts approximately every 90 minutes. Once they watched an eruption, they would earn their next clue.

After the Bransens headed out, the Weaver family, aided by the horse prowess (did I JUST read that? the CBS recappers sure does love the Weavers) of Rebecca and Rachel, completed the Roadblock quickly as well. When leaving the ranch, the family encountered the Linz siblings, in last place barely behind the Godlewski sisters, on the narrow path leading to the main road. Initially, neither side wanted to yield to the other, but, according to the rules, the Linzes already used their Yield, so they ultimately gave way, letting the Weavers pass first. An appalled Linda Weaver remarked, “They’re so icky, I can’t stand them.” She then goes on to make monkey faces as they pass the Linzes. Equally unimpressed, Megan Linz said, “They are so rude.” She moons the Weavers as a response to the monkey faces. Whatevia wasn't impressed with both teams.

Arriving at Yellowstone National Park in first place, the Bransens discovered they needed to wait about 40 minutes for the next eruption of Old Faithful. This allowed the second place Weavers to show up and both Teams enjoyed the eruption together. Blech. The disappointed Godlewski sisters and Linz siblings witnessed the eruption from a distance as they entered the park, realizing they now had to wait another 90 minutes. Meanwhile, the Bransens and Weavers opened their clue to learn they had to drive on Highway 287 and find the ranch at 15200 where Phil would be waiting.

After the Godlewskis and Bransens (seriously, CBS webmasters are stupid. Check it out yourself. They typed Bransens) Linz waited the 90 minutes to watch Old Faithful erupt, they sped off realizing that one of them could be eliminated. At the same time, the Bransens and Weavers each devised plans on how to beat the other Team to the mat. Wally thought of selling off her daughters to Phil. Linda concocted a sleeping potion that she can use on the Bransens. Pulling into 15200, both families made a mad dash to Phil, who was sitting on a fence (is that what you call it?) acting coolly. Linda tried to throw the potion to slow poke Wally, but the Bransen girls already talked to Phil about letting them come in first. Although the Bransens narrowly beat the Weavers, Phil asked both Teams to join him on the mat. He then told them this leg of the race wasn’t over and handed them their next clue. Rachel Weaver lamented, “How long is this leg going to go on?” Phil replied that he can make it as long as he wants if she doesn't shut up. Rachel obliged.

To be continued.

Well, RNO's recap also says 12:34 am. And I kind of remember it's 12:34 am. I haven't dled the episode yet tho. Besides, it was CBS's recap that said 12:34 am. Wink
