The finale commentary for this season from Jonathan Baker and David G. Taylor.

"Ever since the beguiling innocence of the fall of 2001, I have loved The Amazing Race much like I adore my boyhood leather-moccasin wallet — its edges frayed and unraveling — that I keep tucked-away in the back recesses of a desk drawer. What I am trying to say is that my familiarity with the Race has become almost embarrassing. I can admit, surely, to being awestruck by the Survivor series, its pop-culture sway unquestioned within America's media gulch. Yet with The Amazing Race — and a faraway Pit Stop leered-over by Phil Keoghan — and all the rest — I feel, somehow, this is my deep home. My strange attraction is in many ways indescribable. Like love. And perhaps like my lingering delight for that shuttered wallet. So, at different times — through the thick and thin of the Race — I will feel happy and fleetingly sad... each spasm a highly personal impression.

Satisfied and damped-down with regret... ah, with this The Amazing Race: Family Edition and all it took me through... the soaring good and the pathetic bad... And all the rest. I say "pathetic" bad (and I say the "lonely" Finale) mainly because of what I witnessed on Wednesday's post-Finale million-dollar-check giveaway spectacle on The Early Show. Not too many Seasons ago this morning-show segment welcomed the entire team roster, usually outside the CBS studios in New York City. The top three teams, as expected, would be placed on a riser in front of the other eliminated teams, these lucky six contestants getting the benefit of short personal interviews. Nothing fancy, mind you, but minimally acceptable. ...."
