Interesting TAR8 facts

At age 14, Rolly Weaver is the youngest person to make it to the final three and holds the record for the most roadblocks completed by a minor and by one person in the season.

At age 19, Tommy Linz is the youngest person to win the $1,000,000 on The Amazing Race.

This is the first time that one country was visited in more than 3 legs (USA) and this is the first race to stay on one continent (North America); other minimal records include shortest race (11,000 miles) and fewest countries (4).

This season involved the most number of cities (50), with the previous record being 25 in the previous season.

The show said there were only two Yields, but there was another Yield on Leg 1 that didn't make it to air since it was not used.

Seasons 6 and 8 were the only seasons to award a prize at the end of every leg of the race.

This is the first season to have more than one double-length leg. This is also the first season that the final leg is a double-length leg.

Brittney Rogers, a former Miss Louisiana, appeared on a special Miss USA edition of Fear Factor, where she won $50,000. She gave half to charity

Kevin and Drew from Season 1 appeared in the first leg of the race handing out clues for teams in New York.

In Leg 1, Renee Rogers fell at the starting line and suffered a concussion. The Rogers family didn't realize the severity of the injury until they had gone to a hospital after being eliminated from the race.

In Leg 6, at Volcan Poas, the clue envelope appeared to contain Fast Forward instructions; however, this was not mentioned or described, perhaps because no team took advantage, or because plans for the task fell through. The Fast Forward in Leg 5 was introduced as the only one in the race when the show was televised.

According to an interview with Wally Bransen on RFFRadio, Hurricane Emily caused producers to cancel a leg in Belize. Teams had an extra day off in Costa Rica after Leg 6

The Godlewski Family became the first all-female team to finish 1st on more than one leg of The Amazing Race (Legs 1, 7, and Cool, beating out previous one-time 1st place female team finishers Pat & Brenda (Season 1), Mary & Peach (Season 2), Tian & Jaree (Season 4), and Debbie & Bianca (Season 7). In addition, the Godlewskis became only the second female team to reach the Final 4 (along with [[Season 5's Linda & Karen).

Also in Leg 9, the Weaver Family became the first team to be Yielded twice in the race, once by the Paolo Family and once by the Linz Family.

Leg 10 had the most route markers in the history of The Amazing Race: a total of 14.

Linda Weaver wore a t-shirt with the name "Chris" on it for many legs of the race. Contrary to popular belief, "Chris" did not refer to her late husband, but rather her fiancee's name

In a RFF Radio podcast interview with Wally Bransen, he said that the Linzes beat them to the finish mat by one or two minutes in the final leg. The Weavers finished in third place an "hour or two" later.

Production staff visited a Moab, Utah diner during the shooting of Leg 9. They inadvertently left behind papers including the full text of that leg's clues

During an Early Show interview, Tommy Linz admitted that he and Lindsay Bransen started dating after the race.

Leg 1 - $40,000 cash

Leg 2 - Trip to the Fairmont Southampton, Bermuda provided by Travelocity

Leg 3 - Gasoline for life for each team member from BP and ARCO.

Leg 4 - Universal Orlando resort package at Orlando, Florida provided by Travelocity

Leg 5 - Gamboa Rainforest Resort package at the Panama Canal, Panama provided by Travelocity

Leg 6 - Individual "wild rides" with a choice of a Segway, a Vespa, a jet ski or an all-terrain vehicle, courtesy of the Wild Bean Cafe at BP.

Leg 7 - Trip to Belize from Travelocity

Leg 8 - A Jay-Flight 27 B.H. Travel Trailer compliments of Jayco.

Leg 9 - Trip for four to the Teton Mountain Lodge in Jackson Hole, Wyoming provided by Travelocity.

Leg 10 - A new 2006 full-size Buick Lucerne luxury sedan.

Leg 11 - $1,000,000

I definitely thought he was joking, but had some serious tone to it. Kind of like they spent some time together after the race but given they live in different states and go to different schools it would make dating a bit difficult... but who knows.

It would make meeting the parents easy since Daddy Bransen already likes him LOL

Aaron of Season 3 accidentally stumbled upon one of the Pit Stops while backpacking in Europe.
That was for season 6.... but how the heck did that happen and what do they mean.

Offtopic about TAR 8 interesting facts **

Three teams compete in the last leg of the race. This first part of the leg includes intermediate destination(s) where the teams must travel to complete a series of tasks (Alaska, United States Seasons 1 and 2; Hawaii, United States, Seasons 3, 4, and 6; Calgary, Canada, Season 5; Puerto Rico, United States, Season 7; Montreal and Toronto, Canada, Season Cool. The second part of the leg has teams traveling to a final destination, located in a usually major United States city. Remaining teams must complete several tasks before receiving the clue directing them to the Finish Line. At the Finish Line, host Phil Keoghan and all the eliminated teams wait for the remaining teams to arrive.

The first team to reach the Finish Line wins the race and $1 million. All other teams win lesser amounts of money on a sliding scale based on their finishing order, as follows:

Place Prize
1st $1,000,000
2nd $25,000
3rd $10,000
4th $7,000
5th $6,000
6th $5,000
7th $4,000
8th $3,500
9th $3,000
10th $2,500
11th $1,500

I didn't know that!! That's cool!

I think it's already a lot...

I did a calculation on the Bransens win from TAR 8 and realized with the $240,000 oil for life win prize reward, $25,000 cash for second place, 2 cool cars and few trips... i think they must be SO GLAD even though they didn't win that million.
