Wacky Wanda's Episode 8 Review!

Here are Wanda's thoughts about last week's episode! TO REVEAL, OR NOT TO REVEAL...THAT IS THE QUESTION. We refer, of course, to the Immunity Idol. Phrased another way, the question is "When do you play the big trump card?" Terry has revealed it, and now all the Survivor Friday-morning quarterbacks can pontificate on whether it was a good play or a bad one. It is also interesting to speculate on whether his initial revelation to Sally was for strategy, for morale-building, or just because the grand secret bubbling inside him had to come out! I think it would be difficult for almost anyone to hide that glorious triumph for very long.... but then, Terry isn't just anyone, and he doesn't do much, if anything, by accident. Soon after Sally knew, Austin knew, and then Danielle knew... and we have to presume that all of Casaya knew soon after that, since Danielle didn't change loyalties. For better or for worse? It seems that this can only help Terry and extend his immunity into the Final Four. In the first Gitano Tribal Council, the LaMinas voted for Shane, so Shane doesn't want to see the immunity idol played; it might cost him the game. In the second Gitano TC, the LaMinas voted for Aras, so now Aras doesn't want to see the immunity idol played; it might cost him the game. The leaders of Casaya both have to be quaking in their sneakers about the ricochet effect of the immunity idol. Terry was awesome as always in the Immunity Challenge --- but let's not forget that Sally was behind Captain America by mere seconds. She is not only the best woman there, but potentially the most likely immunity winner after Terry Terrific, especially since need propels her with more intensity than it drives the Casaya club. Suppose Sally won the next immunity challenge. (Suppose Terry even LET her win it!) Casaya could vote for Terry -- but if the six-pack stuck together, then Terry and Sally would call the shot on who goes home, and Aras and Shane both know that. Knowing that Terry has the immunity idol, would they rally the troops to vote for Terry on the theory that he will have to "waste" the idol, and then they can vote him off for real the next time he doesn't win immunity? Think again. Letting Casaya know that he has the I.I. is absolutely to Terry's advantage. Austin looked longingly toward Terry when the vote went for him at TC, but it was a no-brainer that if Terry didn't give up the idol for Nick, he wasn't going to give it up for Austin either. With Nick already gone, it was too late to try to pull the numbers together to give the old LaMina group a fighting chance. Much as Terry has loved his tribemates, his first obligation is to himself and his family. He has to play to win, personally. A comment on the reward challenge: It certainly was cool to see Sally run that flag up the beach and beat the Strong Men's Team. Then the setting for the reward turned out to be a wet bed! Yuck! I'm glad the food was great for Bruce, Aras, and Sally's reward, but Sally could have developed better rapport with Cirie if she had gone back moaning about the wet bed and the pathetic location compared to some of the really nice rewards some people have gotten on Survivor. Talking about the great food seems to be the wrong thing to do unless you can take some back for the rest. Strategically it seems good to vote for Aras to show him that he could go just as easily as Captain Ugly, but the whole world's crying to see Shane get voted off. I hate to be judgmental enough to call anybody a creep, but Shane looks and acts like one rather consistently, and "if it looks like a duck, and swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it must be a duck." So what's with these people that they keep a creep around for so long? That's the worst thing about this whole Casaya tribe: Nobody seems to care about Character winning and about creeps getting sent home ASAP. For that reason, I continue to lose respect for anyone from Casaya. Meanwhile, we're still waiting for the medical emergency previewed before the March Madness break! Good luck Terry and Sally!
