What Was The Best Season Of The Amazing Race Pt. 2
« on: May 22nd, 2007, 8:21pm »

Vote for your favorite season of The Amazing Race. Each round will take place within a day and will run for 13 days. The season with the lowest votes at 11 pm on that day will be eliminated from the poll. Good luck Smiley

Leg 10 RESULTS
Season 6     6 (27.2%)
Season 9     5 (22.7%) Eliminated Season (Take 2 away from the final total giving it 3 votes)
Season 10     6 (27.2%)
All-Star Edition     5 (22.7%)

Total votes: 22

NON-ELIMINATION PENALTY
Any season which comes in last place on a non-elimination round is marked for elimination.  This means that the season marked for elimination needs to have the highest amount of votes or it will be eliminated. If they don’t have the highest amounts of votes, in the next round, that season will have 3 of its votes taken away, much like the 30 minute penalty rule. All in all the season needs to have the highest amount of votes, or else 3 votes will be taken away from their total at the end of the next round.

12. Season 1
This was the first original season of the race. It set up the rules, the penalties, and what future races would be like. Visiting many exotic locations such as South Africa, China, India, and France. We got a mix of teams from relationship teams to family related teams. Our first ever villains were born and were Joe/Bill. While they had intensive travel skills, which was quickly lost while they got left behind in Alaska and never got to the finish line. We got our first of many bickering teams which included Paul/Aimee, Frank/Margarita, which makes them look nice compared to other couples in seasons to come. Nancy/Emily were the team many people wanted to see in the final 3, but with a risky decision to quit the detour, their penalty was too much for them to recover from. Rob/Brennan was poised as the typical alpha male team throughout the season, and would not be the last of male winners.  This season set up the format of the race to come in other seasons.

11.  Season 4
This season again included 12 teams, and followed the route of season 3. Having a majority of the legs take place in Europe, and also traveled to Asia, and Australia which hadn’t been visited since Season 2. The race had their first model and actor, teams the race would soon be familiar with. It also had another gay team, which would soon win and be the first and only gay team to win the amazing race. Love birds Kelly/Jon came on the race to have fun, and indeed they did by making up nick names for fellow teams aka Millie/Chuck, who was hit the hardest. David/Jeff pulled a team Guido by getting left behind in the final leg, and never making it to the final city. The female team curse was born again eliminating Monica/Sheree and Tian/Jaree back to back.

10. Season 2
This race included the races first visit to South America. This season stayed away from Europe and traveled to South America, Africa, Asia, Australia, before returning to the US making stops in Hawaii, Alaska, and finally ending in San Francisco. This season gave us 3 female teams, but was cut short of 2 of them in the first 3 episodes, leaving Mary/Peach left who quit while not being able to complete a task in Hong Kong. The standout rivalry was between Tara/Wil and Wil verses Blake and Chris/Alex. Chris/Alex who formed a rocky alliance with Tara/Wil lasted to the end, where they narrowly defeated Tara/Wil in the races most exciting finishes to date. The 2 hour season finale was one of the best season finales from Tara/Wil loosing their clue to the sprint to the finish line. No other season finale has been able to stand up or beat this one yet.

9. Asian Edition
This edition featured 10 teams from various Asian countries. The 10 teams traveled to 2 continents (Asia and Australia). While the first half of the season seemed to lack excitement, the ball finally got rolling by the time they reached India. There were some team rivalries between Sandy/Francesca and Andy/Laura. By the end of the season, we saw the first female team to reach the final 3 ever on The Amazing Race. Coincidentally during the same time on Season 10 Lynn/Karyln made the final 3 as well. But on the Asian Edition it was Zabrina/Joe Jer who won the race and became the first ever Female winners of The Amazing Race. Sandy/Francesca placed 2nd and Andrew/Syeon placed 3rd. The 2nd season is set to begin filming during the summer.

8. Season 7
This season’s route was different from all the other seasons in being that it didn’t go around the world. It traveled to South America, South Africa, India, then to Europe. Survivors Rob/Amber joined in the competition which many teams didn’t approve of including rivals Debbie/Bianca, Susan/Patrick, and Lynn/Alex. Many accidents happened in this race including Brian/Greg’s jeep flipping over, and Meredith’s fall in South Africa. Meredith/Gretchen the oldest couple in the season hung in the race every single leg, but was eliminated right before making it into the final 3. Ron/Kelly who came on the race to see if there could be a relationship from their friendship quickly found out that they were on two different paths, which caused for some tension throughout the season. Winners Uchenna/Joyce, who began the final leg with no money or possessions, came from behind to win the million dollars in the most controversial ending ever. The to be continued leg continued in India having teams check in what they thought was a Pitstop on the rooftops of an apartment building.

8.  Season 5
Many call this the best season of the race partially due to the new rules, the winners, and the unpredictability of the non-eliminations. 11 teams took off this time and traveled to all 6 continents making this season the longest traveled 72,000 miles. New rules included the yield, non-elimination penalties, and the fast forward being decreased to only a few legs. Traveling to South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and ending in Texas, this made for one heck of a roller coaster ride. Cousins Charla/Mirna who was the most adored team that season had an occurring rivalry with dating couple Colin/Christe. Colin who brought the word “intensity” to a whole other level after screaming at Christie, almost getting thrown in jail, and having a complete meltdown due to an ox. Chip/Kim exercised the power of the newly instated Yield on Colin/Christie while in Manila, causing for an ultimate showdown in the following leg. Christian daters Brandon/Nicole placed their faith in religion to make them win. They would not be the first team or the last to use faith and religion to help them win. Bowling Moms, Linda/Karen just barely missed out on making it to the final 3 after a hard roadblock climbing a lime rock in Manila. The female curse struck again eliminating Charla/Mirna, Kami/Karli and Linda/Karen all back to back. This season also visited all new countries except for India and New Zealand which had been visited in previous seasons.

6. Season 3
The Amazing Whiner is what this season should have been called. Having 12 teams instead of 11 definitely twisted the non-elimination legs up a bit. Traveling to Mexico, Europe which had 6 legs this season, Africa, and Asia, set up for a rather short race route compared to Season 2’s. Twins, Derek/Drew became everyone’s top team they wanted out of the race, they were fit, young, and did pretty decent up until Vietnam. Sweethearts John Vito/Jill never caught a break until Switzerland but was eliminated in the very next leg after coming in 1st the previous leg due to the fast forward. Married parents Teri/Ian the oldest couple in the race proved that older people can make it far in the race, and made it all the way to finals and placing 2nd. Flo/Zach came on the race to see if there could be a relationship, but all Flo gave him was an earful all along the trip starting on the cliffs in Spain. Another showmance was formed between Flo and her attraction to Drew. The darkest moment came in the season final where Flo threatened to quit numerous times. In the end her team won, giving the race its first co-ed win.

5. Family Edition
This season featured teams of 4 which were made up of families instead of teams of 2. Traveling most of the season within the US and 2 legs in Central America (Panama City, Costa Rica). The team dynamics such as the religious Weavers vs. the Linz Family gave some much needed entertainment, making up for the lack of tasks (visiting the largest chair, a trailer park, BP gas station.) This edition's winners were spoiled from the beginning from an online betting game. We also saw another female team, The Godlewski sisters make it to the final 4 before getting eliminated. This was the first of two seasons where there were more females in the finale. This would happen again on Season 10.

4. Season 9
This season was the first season back to the original format after Season 8. It visited Brazil again, Europe, Australia, and Asia. New locations such as Oman, Sicily and Japan were visited. The female curse continued its damage eliminating Lisa/Joni, Wanda/Desiree, and Danielle/Dani all back to back. We got a semi Flo redux thanks to Monica with the fish challenges, and the pottery one, it was sad to see them go. The oldest couple in the competition Fran/Barry made it to 5th after previously placing 1st. Our bickering couple RaYo barely made it into the final 3. Front runners BJ/Tyler and Eric/Jeremy placed 1st on all the legs except for 2 which caused many people to stray away from this season.

I like all the seasons that are left except for 3! Go Season 5 and All-Stars! Oh and Musicman, next round can you do "which season is the worst" instead of best, and the team with the most votes is eliminated or has a penalty or something?
