Corrosion resistance of nickel alloy

The ability of nickel alloy to corrode various kinds of acid, alkali and salt than traditional stainless steel and super austenitic Fe base alloy has been improved one grade. A prominent advantage of nickel alloys is excellent corrosion resistance in aqueous solutions containing halide ions. In this respect, nickel alloy is far superior to austenitic stainless steel, austenitic stainless steel is easy to be corroded by chloride ion and fluorine ion solution.
The excellent corrosion resistance of nickel alloy not only shows lower metal loss, but also shows better local corrosion resistance, especially resistance to pitting / crevice corrosion, intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. Compared with uniform corrosion, these localized corrosion is the main cause of corrosion failure in chemical industry.Laminado en frío hoja de acero inoxidable
The excellent corrosion resistance of nickel alloys is partly attributed to the lower reactive activity (relative to iron) inherent in nickel, as demonstrated by its inert oxidation potential in the electromotive force (EMF) sequence. Similar to stainless steel, chromium - containing nickel alloys have passivation (that is, the spontaneous formation of a layer of super thin and tough surface oxide, which effectively prevents corrosion).

Another advantage of nickel over iron is that nickel can accommodate a large proportion of alloying elements without forming brittle phases. Alloys that increase corrosion resistance are usually chromium, molybdenum and copper. The role of the alloy elements will be briefly described below.Hierro en ángulo laminado en caliente
