In many industrial USES, stainless steel can provide satisfactory corrosion resistance. According to the use of experience, in addition to the mechanical failure, the corrosion of stainless steel mainly displays in: the a serious corrosion of stainless steel in the form of local corrosion (i.e. stress corrosion cracking, pitting corrosion, intergranular corrosion, crevice corrosion and corrosion fatigue). These local corrosion results in almost half of the failure cases. In fact, many failures can be avoided by reasonable material selection.1 8 Hoja de aluminio
Stress corrosion cracking (SCC) : a common term used to describe the mutual failure of stressed alloys in corrosive environments due to the spread of striations. Stress corrosion cracking has brittle fracture morphology, but it may also occur in materials with high toughness. The necessary conditions for the occurrence of stress corrosion cracking are the existence of tensile stress (whether residual stress or applied stress, or both) and specific corrosion media. The formation and expansion of the profile are generally perpendicular to the tensile stress. The stress value that leads to stress corrosion cracking is much smaller than that required for material fracture in the absence of corrosion media. In the micro level, through the crack in grain called transgranular crack, and the cracks along the grain boundary expansion graph called the intergranular crack, when the stress corrosion cracking extended to one depth (here, the load stress on the section of materials to achieve its fracture stress) in the air, the material is according to the normal crack (in ductile material, usually through microscopic defect aggregation) and disconnect. Therefore, the section of a component that fails due to stress corrosion cracking will contain a characteristic area of stress corrosion cracking and a "dimple" area associated with the polymerization of a microdefect.
