The 304 alloy is duplex stainless steel consisting of 23% chromium and 4% nickel. The corrosion resistance of the 2304 alloy is similar to that of 316L. In addition, its mechanical property is that the yield strength is two times of the 304L/316L austenite grade. This feature allows the designer to reduce the weight of the product when designing the product, especially the pressure vessel.6 Inch ASTM A304 Welded Stainless Steel Pipe
This alloy is especially suitable for the temperature range of -50 degree C /+300 degree C (-58 F/572 F/572 F). In the case of strict restrictions (especially for welded structures), it can also be used for lower temperatures.
Compared with 304 and 316 austenite, 2304 alloy has stronger stress corrosion resistance because of its dual phase microstructure, lower nickel content and higher chromium content.

Stress corrosion tests in a solution of chloride concentration (8 ppm 02) PH=7, > 1000 h show that 2304 has higher stress corrosion resistance than 304L and 316L due to higher chromium content and lower nickel content.
This is a typical characteristic of duplex stainless steel. Under the same conditions, 2205 alloy is superior to 2304.

The 2304 alloy duplex stainless steel has passed most tests of standard IC, such as ASTM, A262E and C tests. Its corrosion rate in 65% boiling nitric acid is higher than that in 316L. Because of its high yield strength, the alloy is very suitable for corrosion and corrosion.
