I received this from my egroup, and I signed up in the petition. It basically says that we should not let the producers reduce Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire movie into 2-and-a-half hours. They argue that if kids can sit thru LOTR (3+ hours), they can do so with GoF. The author of the petition also got news that the Quidditch World Cup will be removed from the film, which pissed off many fans of the book. If you are a Harry Potter fan, and don't to get the GoF movie mutilated, sign up!

Personally, I think 3 1/2 hours is okay for GoF. They could cut some scenes, but it will leave enough time to tell a consistent and not-so-confusing story. They should have done this with PoA!

I personally agree with a 3 1/2 hour film, but I also agree that the world cup segment should be ditched or drastically edited into something very short. Quidditch is great in the books, and neat to look at, but when it comes down to minutes on the table for a film, it just wastes valuable film time in my opinion that should be relegated to more important plot sequences. The way quidditch was edited in film 3 was perfect in my opinion, it carried across the important pieces without sacrificing more than 5 minutes of movie time to do so.

Yes, they can minimize the QWC scene, as long as they use it to show important parts in the movie (JK Rowling used that scenes to give some clues, and it introduces us to Winky). Just don't remove it, because I think QWC will never be repeated in any of the books, unlike the Hogwarts Quidditch, which happens annually except in Book 4.

Yeah the 3rd harry potter movie was way to short and they didn't really put some of the funny parts of the book in the movie and the movie was way to fast. like they went from one part of the book then right to the next which was way to fast all I'm saying is that in the first two harry potter movie's they got almost all the book in the movie and in the 3rd movie they only got half of the book into the movie, they left way to much stuff out from the book that should have been in the movie, but i still think dan and tom are so hot!!!

I'd like to see more Fred and George. They are so much more prominent in the books than they have been in the movies and they are some great comic relief.

Yup, I would have love the movie more (I love it!) if they didn't chop of too much.

Yeah, Fred and George are among my favorite characters in the series. They should get more prominent roles. But since it's a Harry Potter movie, we can't hope too much.

I don't care if the movie is 3 hours long. In the third movie they cut out things from the book and add in there own stuff. Alfonso Cauron, the director, made so many stupid choices because almost the whole movie was out of order! Angry
